Color grading in post??

I recently got a Panasonic g7 for making edits, movies, short films, etc. If I plan on color grading in post production do I need to make my settings and colors on my camera neautral or flat? Or should I shoot in normal mode with Normal Colors? Any advice is much appreciated thanks!

You are able to color correct any picture profile. The issue is that with certain picture styles like normal or whatever other type of profile the camera has the quality of the image will degrade the more you push adjustments on that image. The flatter the image the more dynamic range you have to adjust the image. There are plenty of videos on the best settings for a g7 for cinelike D profile. The flatter the image though the harder to tell if your exposure and WB are correct so following your waveform, histogram and meters will help greatly.

video shows editing for sony series cameras but you kinda get the gist of it. There are presets for several different picture profiles. If you use adobe premier it is a lot easier to color grade in my opinion
