not interested in going out west just for the skiing. just seems like a nice chill place especially for filming.

+1 on Boise State. The mountain is close (not that great) but 16 miles from campus can't complain, the chicks are hot, and it's impossible to go to a football game and not get piss drunk and bone a sluuuut.

Best of all, 2.0 GPA gets you in

shit you sold me

if you're really into film, the new york film academy has this three year program where you film in NYC for a year, then you go out west to LA and get the rest of your degree there.

thats my goal.

Yeah Boise is kinda cool if you like a city feel. It's close to bogus. And sun valley, brundage, and tamarack are all close and have sick skiing. Not too bad of a school as well. I'd recommend.

I currently attend SLCC in Utah but I am from Boise.

After being here for a semester I can say I miss home. Boise is the coolest fucking place (I have never lived in Oregon or Washington so I can't speak for that). Bogus Basin is a awesome "small" mountain with a great community and its less than 30 minutes from Downtown. If you want some good snow you can go to brundage which is less than 2 hours away. If you want to go to a "real" park with big jumps and a pipe etc. you can go to sun valley which is really close. I may be biased because Idaho is home but I love it there.

I know people at Boise State and peoples opinions vary(some can't stand it and some love it).

It is really hard to go wrong with any of the states you mentioned from what i've heard so I'm just giving you my two cents.

Best of luck! I hope you find the right place. If you need any information on Boise or Salt lake just send me a message and help you with what I can!

I go to school in Utah. since I moved here the skiing hasn't been great, but you do have awesome access to so many great mountains. Also salt lake is a cool place to live because it doesn't get as cold as some other ski places. uofu is easy to get in. I don't regret coming here, but I miss the east for sure. The only lame thing about utah is the culture out here. But if you can see past it and just ignore it it's a great place to be. Also the u/salt lake is more tolerable culture wise than most of utah.

I just mean the lds influence is prevalent here. That is the only thing I wish I knew before I came here. Half of the city is closed sundays, liquor laws are crazy, and a bunch of other things.

It's all pretty mellow and easy to work around, you'll get used to it quickly. It's very worth it for the access to mountains and the awesome action sports culture in SLC.

Film and schools in the northwest don't exactly go hand in hand. Most strong film programs are going to either be in NYC or in the southwest. I wouldn't recommend going to a school that isn't accredited in film, because it probably wont set you up for a successful career and would most likely be a waste of money.

My suggestion would be to go to a community college for a semester, get good grades, and then transfer to a school that has a good film program. If you actually want to do film don't limit yourself to a specific geographic area like the one you outlined.

Currently a senior in high school right now stressing the fuck out about college applications. I've already visited Plymouth State and SUNY Plattsburgh, and I like both of these schools. I'm also planning on visiting Potsdam and Johnson State real soon so my views on Plymouth and Plattsburgh could change.

I live about 30 minutes from Johnson state. A private hilly campus. Really close to smuggs and some good backcountry. But FYI I did a soccer camp there and NO restaurants would deliver to us. I think it's because they have been ripped off but idk.

Sorry to double post but do you guys have any feedback on WWU, MSU Bozeman or The University of Portland? Looking at those schools

Freshman at Plymouth and I love it so far. Shoot me a pm if you have any questions about it!

This is absolutely crucial. Idk what I would've done without food delivery in college, especially post-bar nights....

Bozeman Montana's where its at. I'm studding CE but I have a bunch of friends in Film School and they love. Plus Bridger's 16 miles and Big Sky's an hour.

People like you and me who are from Boise have a biased look on Boise and the state of Idaho as a whole, but in actuality Boise is such an awesome place. I love it here, I've grown up here all my life and do not intend on leaving. Some people might say 'oh he's too scared to leave home' I'm no longer living at home and only go there for free food and laundry. In my eyes its a win win situation. Plus, bogus is fun as shit, and Sun Valley's park is my favorite place to be in the winter. I'd recommend Boise State.

I go to WWU. I dig it, but I've lived in Washington my whole life. Skiing's 45 mins - hour away but there's tons of awesome mtn biking right out the back door. what are you looking to study?

The west coast is out of water and burning, go to Maine or Vermont or New Hampshire

.

DEFINITELY don't go to Montana State. The skiing sucks Bozeman is full of hicks and the film school is terrible...
