College

The SAM Program at Gogebic was amazing learned a lot and had a great time. When it came to getting jobs out west it was just about as easy as it get's. I had multiple interviews and place's I could have worked. When I thought I had decide where I wanted to move to work at (Which was Beaver Creek as A Groomer). A week or two later after I decided on Beaver Creek Vail called out of no where And offered me a Job. Which I took. The guy that Hired me was a Former SAM which helped a ton.
 
not the only.. but yes it is very usefull. When I met with the dean of the business school at U of U he pretty much begged me and another engineering kid to get an mba. Also, one of my friends that graduated with a biomed degree got hired by nestle simply because they respected her degree and paid her ~120k fresh outta undergrad a year to travel the globe and figure out what cultures like what candy. Pretty fuckin badass if you ask me
 
Montana State has a pretty reputable snow science program, although Im not sure what majors/careers it would involve, probably something to do with avalanche study though. Aand the nearest ski hill is less than 20 minutes away.... just sayin
 
FWIW that job fucking sucks. I know people who have to travel that much, and it takes a serious toll on their relationships with people.

NOT WORTH IT imo.

A technical undergrad with an MBA is the golden ticket though...and i have been told so by people far more successful than pretty much anyone any of you know...
 
1) Study something that makes you lots of money and is fun and challenging for you to do

2) dont take too many classes in the winter terms; ski a lot instead

3) use previously mentioned money to ski once out of school

Just cause people are rich doesnt mean you should listen to them...hence why i never mentioned money- to me success is being powerful and well respected within your industry.
 
This. My buddy went to CMC cause he loved mtn biking / was sposored. Had a major wreck inbetween classes, had to be air lifted off the mtn, failed out of college and lives with his mom. Baller

Didn't read anything except your pst; don't forego any options yet dude. You're still young and who knows what life will bring. Take life a step at a time and plan for your future but don't etch it in stone. Best of luck to you, whatever you do.
 
Colorado Mountain College offers degrees in all areas of a ski resort from Rental shop management, to ski resort maintence, to Ski resort management. and there's Green Mountain College in vermont that offers ski resort mangement and you get to intern at Killy. There are a lot of options out there, you just have to remain opened minded about what you want to do.
 
yes, ME degree is probably the best undergrad program/degree you can walk out of a college with. Opens up everything and anything for either work or continuing education
 
I'm a junior in engineering and I have the same plan, except two small houses, one for the work week, and a cabin in the mountains with sleds and fun toys.
 
This guy that was my heli-skiing guide was a geology major. He would work for the oil companies in the summer and stuff but then he would work as a heli-skiing guide in the winter. I'm not sure how you could beat that. he gets paid to ski the exact same lines we paid to ski.. dude was a total boss too and rock climbed a lot in the summer
 
ha ya, the real world hits you hard in the face. That being said I have a friend who works as an engineer in Alberta 1.5 weeks on and one week off, and makes around $80, 000 right out of uni. SInce he goes to camp for work it would be possible to have a ski vacation every three weeks in like Banff or something.
 
social life suffers tremendously.

Working that kind of job is lucrative, but fucking sucks otherwise.

also, 80k doesnt buy what it used too haha.
