College dorms

SO I'm a senior and I'm looking into a few colleges. Last night I went up to Western Washington u. and we were partying having a good time and then the RA's came in and ruined it. What are the dorms like at your college? are the RA's the same or what?
 
U of U they had like one round of RAs that went around like once a night around 10 or 11 after that we were as rowdy as we wanted to be. Not sure if its changed in 7 years, but dorm partying is all about staying under the radar.

Yeah I think what set it off was that the people in the room next door were smoking and they put the fan backwards in their window. so it was blowing towards the door.....
 
When you go to university where everyone in first year is the legal drinking age the RA's get way more fucking chill.

i have smoked bare weed with my RA's. The only two drinking related rules are that you cant have any alcohol that will leak if you turn it upside down while you're roaming the hallways and also you cant have glass beer bottles. overall i'm very satisfied with my rez experience.

Nah dude, the dorms experience is second to none. I met all of my friends in the dorms and everyone I know in my life now is because of people I met in the dorms. Its a must do IMO.
 
Be nice and get to know your RA and Hall Coordinator. I got caught doing endless stupid things while I lived in the dorms but did not get in trouble because I treated my RA with respect and did not put him in a bad position. Most RA's just what the free room and not to be bothered.

plus its required to spend at least one year in one at most schools.

As long as you make friends with your RA and be friendly you shouldn't have a problem

it's hit or miss. if you're in a "party dorm" and have a chill RA you can party and not give a fuck, i've roamed around north hedges at msu with a coke and rum in a mug and didnt see a single ra, on haloween. i never party at my dorm because it's to small and an honors dorm
 
You never know what kind of RA you're going to have, they could be mad chill or total pricks. Most schools have similar policies when it comes to too much noise or getting caught with shit, etc. It's up to the RA what kind of action they're gonna take. Luckily we have a pretty chill RA who only ever gives us warnings n what not really

I agree with Evan, I think it's important to spend at least a year in dorms. It's lively, it's fun, and it's an important part of getting into synch with the school.

Yeah originally I wasn't looking forward to it but after a few nights visiting and partying I already made some new friends. Totally looking forward to it
 
Even though the drinking age is 19 in BC, UBC allowed drinking in the dorms. the RA's would just make sure there weren't more than X amount in each room (some number and it was considered a party), and that you didn't have a bottle open that was bigger than a twosix (fifth). the bigger issue at ubc would be kids getting written up for smoking in their rooms.
 
Don't be an idiot. Don't get noisy. Learn early on who and what your RA's are like/into. My RA was in a sorority and I pledged a fraternity which basically gave me a free pass to do as a pleased within reason. The key to dorm partying is keeping the noise on the DL and usually just pregaming in your room; then going elsewhere to the better parties. If you go to a school where there arent many good parties...go greek
 
It honestly is all up to the person that is the RA or what ever. Some of them are the chillest people around and let too much shit happen. For example my RA was only and RA so she could afford going to school. She honestly didn't give a shit what we did whether it was smoking/drinking and she caught us a lot. As long as we weren't being obnoxious and we were safe everything was cool.

I am sure most college campuses are a little sketchy in the aspects of under age drinking and cannabis use since educational institutions are subject to the same laws as the state and federal government. If the colleges allow laws to be broken they have a chance at loosing funding and other bad things.

I am sure WWU is very lenient in terms of colleges and you shouldn't be partying in the dorm, noise and underage drinking is sketch anywhere unless you are quite and considerate of other peoples living spaces. Its about being smart. There are private schools that are far more fucked for what you did that could get you expelled in some places, it happened to a friend of mine. Be considerate of others and realize you are breaking the law by underage drinking so be smart about it, not a dumbass please. Some people are so stupid about this stuff and act like it shouldn't happen when they are drunk under the age of 21. The law may be stupid but its the law so be stealthy.
 
partying in dorms isnt worth it imo. being crammed in one hot ass room with 20 people isnt fun. if you are just playing bp tape a towel to your door so they dont hear the ping pong ball hit it because its a dead give away.
