Collar bone.

yesterday i broke my collar bone why skiing, has any one ever done this before? or know how long recovery will be. its a bad break i will try and get the x-ray up here

what ever collar bones are pussy, just wear you sling everyday for the first few weeks, and just start doing stuff when it becomes comfertable, i broke mine 5 weeks agao to the day, and ive been skiing for the last week and a hlaf

i broke mine and ripped my lung away from my esophogus, and 2 weeks later marched in a 2 mile parade playing the trombone, after which i went boogie boarding in the pacific. i guess you are out as long as you feel like milking the injury. just take the painkillers they gave you. by the time they run out, you'll be fine

I went and did some mellow skiing after 2 weeks. You're out for as long as it takes to be comfortable moving your arm around a bit. Seems like within 6 weeks you should be able to ski and function no problem.

i subluxd mine in april, shit is still fucked up, mindyou i havent dont much physio for it...lame

8 weeks before I was able to live a normal life. Yo ucan ski and what not before, but iwould be doing anything that made yo ufall ahrd on your shoulder. Rebroken collarbones take a shitload longer to heal and most of the time you require surgery. I would wait it out and not take the risk.

Listen to your doc. C bones are tricky they have to set themselves, then heal. Wear your brace and chill till doc gives you the ok.

this better not be a sign of things to come for me...ive broken something every year and every christmas break. and my break starts tomorrow and im skiing...im scared!

One of the girls who was staying at my house broke her collarbone about a month ago (drunk on the deck, not skiing) - her ribs got pushed out of the way when it was healing and she ended up having to leave Whistler before the season even started. Get yourself checked out regularly during the recovery.

i broke mine saturday so that was 4 days ago, and i'm not wearing a sling anymore, i'm doing great. I have good arm movement to, all over the place. When i broke mine they said that it was set as it was supposed to, so it wasn't a bad break at all.

i broke it twice when i was younger and it take a while to heal i think its prob the most painful break that i had but i only broke my wrist and my collar bone and cracked my sternom but sry to say but it takes a long time to heal..i feel your pain man

I broke my shoulder last year, it broke and stayed in place but took about 6 to 8 weeks for full recovery!

With a normal break, you can ski after 6 weeks, but you have to do physio therapy. And keep doing that for about half a year or something.

If you need surgery, and you get plates, you can start maybe sooner, cause with the plates it is hard. But with plates there is a chance you break the plate, cause bones bend normally, and plates don't'.

Do not eat spinach, there is something in there that will slow the making of cardelich (?) in your body.

If you want to make the break hard again, fitness, but be carefull for an extra joint. This will happen if the break hasnt healed properly and you get an extra pivot or something at that place, but with a plate this will not be the case.

i broke my collar bone on saturday doing a backflip and it was not even a bad crash..i hope to be back on the hill in like 4 weeks..hopefully sooner

I find it hard to believe that you broke your collarbone and are now moving your arm around after a week like some of you say. If you can do that, you never broke your collarbone. Bone doesn't set back into itself within a week, so it must have been a very small hairline fracture.

mine overlapped eachother by over an inch at least, and they just gave me a sling. Now they healed on top of eachother and the corner of one of the broken parts sticks up and you can see it pokeing up in my shoulder.

I broke mine 12 days ago and ive had good range of motion in my arm for about 5 days now and have been on the hill 2 times (bad idea, but i neeeed to ski) and i broke mine in half, one piece is overlapping the other like the bro above me and it feels fine, if i tweak it it hurts a bit but other than that this is the easiest break ive dealt with. And yes mine is set, im not going to test its integrity, but its set, and i have the xray, definately not a hairline fracture.

howd you break it?

but that sounds bad, just do what the doc tells you to and drink lots of milk.

4-6 weeks depending on the break. And anything after that you still have to be careful because it's still not fully healed no matter how much better it feels to you.

dude that sucks.. a lot of people have been breaking them this season.. but just listne to your doctors and make sure you rst it good and not force your self to get back out there cuz you dont want to be fucking it up anymore

i broke mine bad. the bone snapped into four pieces, so it took 8 weeks to get full range of motion back and 12 weeks to be fully healed.

entirely depends on the severity of the break.

i know a few people who just prettymuch ignored it, playing hockey later that week.

my brother was out for 6 weeks, told no heavy liftining for another couple months.

i was dirtbiking with friends and one fell at 5mph. he broke his collarbone in 7 places. a year later it still hurt to pick up a textbook with that arm. 2 years later and still occasionally hurts. he has a visable lump where the plate still is.

so yea, it totally depends.
