Colby is on one

After watching his unexpected heavy big mountain segment in Crescendo… it’s time to claim Colby Stevenson is on top of the ski world.

He wins everything he enters [Kings and Queens is no joke], has rail game, all the tricks, and now seeing he magically rips big lines on top of everything else… damn. He’s the best for sure right now.

Right?

Ahall the goat but colby is probably the 2nd best skier right now straight up

Blown away by Colby's big mountain prowess in that part. Those lines were absolutely fucked. Can't wait to see what the future has in store for him. Dude's a serious problem on skis

Oh yes, A Hall is so well known for his big mountain prowess.

LOL fucking idiot.

i disagree, colby really shows maximum completeness and line choice awareness. This guy really skis what he sees, may it be bc,park or ak.

Respectfully disagree. Colby doesn't have as much swag or as many NBDs. Ahall invents a new trick nearly every season, even in the backcountry, while having arguably the best style in the game (Not saying colby doesn't have great style). Ahall is the only athlete ever to win gold in all 4 x games events while producing generational movies year after year (shootout Owen dahlberg as well).

Also if you're talking complete, Hunter Hess is the most well rounded skier itw by a pretty insane margin IMO.

Hitting a booter in the backcountry isn’t really comparable to shredding a big mountain line like colby was doing in that segment.

I agree that ahall and hunter are probably better on pure freestyle skiing/style but I don’t think there’s anyone skiing big mountain and slope at the level colby is right now. Dude also has major steez imo, some super unique axis tricks in that segment.

I still think Colby lacks style. He surprised me with his big mountain skiing, i thought he was just a park rat.

no one tops ahall, especially considering his younger age

AHall and Hunter Hess better style than Colby? AHall has good style and all, but do not buy that, it is at best break even. Sometimes AHall can DRIP with style for sure, but he has not been immune to going comp jock at times (which to be fair, i think he has been working on for sure, as in with his olympic run which was one of the most sty runs of all time).

Hunter has developed a good style that's crazy as well, but lest not forget that in some of the older slvsh cups, hunter had a lot of work to do in the style department (no tryna hate lol). If anything, Colby had one of the best ski styles out there when he was coming up (rocking the Oakley speed shades, destroying PC) and has remained fairly constant, hasn't really compromised it much at all for any comps, and debatably has the best style of the three throughout or AT WORST break even.

colby and karl need to team up for a movie, those two are so insane at every aspect of freeriding. i can easily see one or both of them becoming the new candide in terms of unmatched well-roundedness

should we have Colby and Ahall SLVSH a best of three: park, mini gold, big mountain?

or just have Colby start Natural Selection for skiers with Sammy, and Ahall?

that would be crazy considering their immense talent in all disciplines. although i am biased toward ahall for being more swag.

Ugh I should not respond to this, bc it means you baited me ?

This was not meant to be hate toward AHall at all, he is for sure one of my fave skiers no doubt. The only thing I'll say is despite the insane technical difficulty of his 2160 at X, it wasn't my cup of tea tbh??‍♂️ (and to be fair I think that's why he did hella creative/not as high scoring stuff the next X).

I agree with this 100% and I do see it happening in the near future.

oh ideally we get markus eder into this shit too. those 3 are untouchable right now, to my eyes

His part was extremely solid, but nothing groundbreaking.

Have none of you watched a Sam Kuch or Cole Richardson part? There are a multiple dudes on that same wavelength.

sure have. Those guys are good. But they don’t win medals in xgames and the Olympics.

Bring the hate, but when I think of stylish skiers none of these three are on the radar. They are probably three of the most well rounded skiers for sure when it comes to disciplines, and they all throw down.

PSA: style is subjective

Big air, slope, knuckle huck, real ski, worded that one wrong should be 4 golds in 4 different disciplines

Ahall colby and hunter are all incredible, but in the big mountain none of them are as good as Kuch + Markus Eder or Sammy C right now, but they haven't been skiing big moutain nearly as long as those guys. They're all incredible skiers.

but did you watch Crescendo?

Colby is now on their level, and younger. Hence this post. And his ski partner from this AK shoot was Sammy himself...

did you also perhaps see his winning run from Corbets last year? or his spine transfers, or that Wyoming gnar with a large downed tree in his chute? Colby is on one.

Name one famous Hunter Hess Big Mountain or Backcountry segment that isn't just built kickers? Dudes top of the game for sure, but most well rounded? Have you seen Colbys latest AK Seg?

colby is nuts. absolutely insane. one of the best parts i've seen. but you ever seen a pipe skier win best street seg? most of em can't even slide a rail. let alone produce 4 ski movies in a row and star in them.

I did watch Crescendo, and it's awesome and cool, but objectively, is not on the level of Sam Kuch and Eder yet. Not to say he won't get there, this is his first year shooting big mountain stuff, it's just how I see it.

can y'all just get a skiing Natural Selection going? Thank you

Was SUPER impressed with his AK segment in the new Good Company drop, consequential lines skied confidently and smoothly like he was just chilling in the mini park. Loved it.
