Closeout?

So I've been hearing the term a lot lately. On the stept site, one of the interview questions with their crew is: Closeouts or switchups

Also, on Justin Norman's blog, http://j-norm.com/146/ if you go there it says "down flat" closeout rail.

Can someone explain to me what the fuck a closeout is.

See how in that Justin Norman picture the rail takes a 90 degree bend to the left? That is the closeout. It's whenever there is something (usually a 90 degree bend in the rail) that restricts the riding. So, on Justin's rail, falling to the left is not an option because it is closed out and you would get mad hurt.

oh word! thanks man, but why do they say closeouts or switchups? Like do a closeout rail or switchup a regular rail?
