Clear lenses

Whaddup gang it has been a minute!

Have been riding Baker recently, vis is usually pretty terrible up there and I am thinking about rocking clear lenses during the day to help with extra flat light and snowy conditions. Does anyone have any experience with clear lenses on storm days? Would some sort of tint/hue be better for flat light compared with straight clear? Thanks.

I used to rock some light yellow lenses, kind of brightens things up to help you see lines a little better. otherwise Spy makes something called the happy lense that one of my bud's used to use and he loved them on storm days

Yellow, but also pink.

For the PNW I like Oakley Hi Pink a LOT. They are good in flat light, but won't sear your eyeballs if the sun comes out.

I've had clear, rose and yellow lenses and honestly found a yellow/rose lens to be better for super flat light, the little bit of light absorbtion gives you better contrast than you get with a full clear lens. Full clear is good for night skiing though.

Clear lenses are only good for night skiing where there is already high contrast but low overall light. As others have said, Pink or yellow are the way to go.

another vote for the oakley prizm hi pink. i used to think that clear lens is the best way in snowy weather but the pink is just amazing. but i still rock my clear lens when i ski in the night with a headlamp.

Word up! Any other things to bump up vis on extremely flat light/ snowy days? Def feel as though vis is my biggest limitation on storm days. thanks

As someone who grew up skiing in Washington and North Idaho I can tell you that when you get into whiteout conditions the trees are your friend. There have been days where its impossible to hit the bowls but you can have fun all day in the trees. Eventually you will know the mountain well enough to find the good glades etc by memory even when you cant really see. You kind of just get used to low visibility skiing too, its part of being a PNW skier for sure.

Light yellow is better for days IME or pink too as others have said.

Totally get some clear lenses though. Best for night and I put them on at late afternoon sometimes when I am starting out for a night session. You are further north so maybe clear is what you want if you are totally in the shadows with a low sun this time of year

Idk if you have smiths but they have a great storm lense that’s yellow with a blue mirror. I can’t remember what they’re called but I have them for my IOX’s and I have no problems seeing in storms with them.

I agree with this. For super low light days, yellow is actually a little better than clear. Plus it just adds a little bit of sharpness to your vision when shredding
