I first got into park skiing around 2014 so there's a lot of videos from before that time that I haven't seen. Fortunately a lot of older videos have been uploaded to youtube in recent years (level 1, inspired, etc) but I still feel like there's a lot of important videos that I haven't watched yet. I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for some must-watch videos from the early 2010s and before.

A little older but two that got me so stoked growing up:

Mind the Gap (2005) - this movie made me into an Andrea Håtveit fanboy

Teddy Bear Crisis (2004). It’s cut into segments on YouTube but here’s Tanner’s part. It was around the time both Tanner and Simon got hurt

Highly recommend anything from MSP 1999 to 2004 - global storming, ski movie trilogy, focused, and yearbook.

IMO this was the real golden era of ski movies. They had big budgets to fly around in helicopters filming helicopters but also put in clips of themselves smoking cigs and blunts and just general degeneracy. Anything with that level of budget now is gonna be kid friendly and bland as shit, whereas anything interesting now has 0 budget.

pretty sure they are all free on the msp website

Refresh by Level1. and if you want to go way back Propaganda by poor boyz was super influencial

first full length that I got recommended here.

also love toy soldier productions, but all their stuff got taken off YouTube/ copyright striked

I agree. You can’t have this conversation without mentioning those MSP movies.

Also, to me, Propaganda and Teddy Bear Crisis are legendary and influential.

came here to post this.

Frank Raymond is a pretty important street skier that people should know about. This is one of the only edit that there is of him on the internet, but he had a bunch of parts in Quebec movies back in the day. Having no lips when hitting urban is something that I haven't seen much since, especially these days where the height of the lip doesn't seem to matter at all to some poeple, but I think should be important as it makes it more hard and legit, and look better.

Sw tails with no lip is insane. I agree it's not so common these days. I can only think of a few off the top of my head: keegan kilbride in Slim to none, rudy lepine ender in pyschoactiv, and there were some in Hello Shelby. I think most established street skiers are pretty considerate when it comes to building lips. Larger lips seem to be more common for people who are newer to street skiing. I've definitely been guilty of building oversized takeoffs before but it's definitely a lot more impressive to have a smaller/nonexistent lip.

Yeah I agree for the most part, still think that some established skiers build big lips. I've been guilty of it too, everyone has i think, even Frank Raymond has an early part with booters onto rails, but that was what everyone was doing at the time. Just think it makes it way less impressive, especially if you're going switch or 2 on. I'm not necessarily saying go no lip on every rail, in some cases the rail is high and not that steep

There is a bunch of 4Bi9 stuff that should get watched but I’m not sure where to find a lot of it personally myself. If anyone can provide a giant 4Bi9 collection that’d be dope.
