Chutes in Jay Peak

Well they're kinda chutes. I guess you could call them east coast cutes. They are fairly difficult somtimes and when I skied them there was mandatory drop of 7-15ft about two thirds of the way down.

they are sick, if you take some weird ways off of them you get to some sick lines. Not nessecarily difficult (the difficult/steep parts were pretty icy when I went) but really soft powder and stuff on the sides.

Yah bitches....I love those chutes so much. On a powder day I'll ski every line in that picture from 7:45 to 4:30.

yeah i skied jay one powder day this year and it was so sick, if you hike to the peak of the mountian there are some real sick chutes too

i've never skiied the chutes, because i only get time to get up there in mid to late spring, but the picture doesn't do the mountain justice..... it's some of the sickest terrain i've ever seen..... then again, i've never been out west.

theres a photo of big jay in my profile, dank lines over there, shit gets deep. it's a 30 minute hike to the peak, make sure to traverse about 150 vert ft. before the valley floor, catch the logging roads to the highway.

its a wicked fun mountain. its got tons of good tree skiing, and weird rocks and shit in the woods. ive ony been there once, but it was so much fun. i dont think that they have the sickest park tho, so go there to ski ski, if u do that

you gotta do the pumphouse, it is this chute were there is a little shack up on the mountain it is pretty gnar always lots of pow, steep, and about as wide as a long pair of skis

i hit that one chute thing that goes right under the tram, once you got through all the bushes it was pretty sick, there was some nice east coast powder

^Indeed. The Chutes directly under the tram are really short and get tracked out fast, but if you find nice snow in there than its awesome, not too challenging to ski. The sweet stuff is off to skiers left to the tram, its a quick hike and after a recent snowfall it goes off. So much good snow over there, and many lines to choose from.

My friends and I are going to hike Big Jay next year, its suppossed to be sweet otb for the East Coast. If you ski the Beyond Beaver Pond Glade, and keep going down to the road it gets real sweet in there. Untracked for a while.

Tuckermans Chute has some good drops off to the side as well, but the actual chute isn't too challenging. Good times at Jay Peak though for sure.

do they have an in ground pipe? cuz i saw something, well skied over it and it looked like a pipe inground.....whatever

yeah they got rid of the pipe last year but it sucked anyway. They had a huge booter instead. There rails are huge and the powder at jay is like nothing else on the east coast.

 
jay has got to be one of the most kick ass east coast mountains and the chutes are as good as they get for the east

as one of my favorite places to be in NE period, it holds the title as my favorite ski area. its just so rad, cheap steep and deep. the foods good, the hotel is inexpensive and the tree skiing rocks. they made huge advancements in their park this past season as well, with their mountain dew sponsorship. nice roller coaster, big rain bow, fun mellow booters. . . ya cant say enough good things about the place.

 
how did you guys like the c box and straight box?

i think they shuda not made them ride ons...or made them ride ons fer the first month it was up but then make like a 2 foot gap to it...wudda been sick tho

well, i finally skiied it. Just got back from a weekend at Jay, it got something like a foot of snow on Saturday........ skiied EVERYTHING, it was so sick. I didn't get any pics up on the chutes cause it was cloudy/shitty visibility up top all weekend, but I've got some sick shots from other parts of the mountain......... gotta get those up when I get home.
