Chipping

my public enemys chip a ton so yesterday i decided to burn all the strings of p tex falling off the top sheet, because they were really bugging me(i know it doesnt effect the ski at all) and then i blew it out when it hit the topsheet. i did one by the binding and when it started to burn it got all flakey and there were these black flakes in the air. Did i burn the core or the sidewall? Will it mess up my works and functions? Im freaking out

i dont know i wish i thought of that before. does anybody know it if messes up my ski though? i really dont want to buy a new pair

no im pretty sure you just burned the ptex too hot. when burning ptex if you burn it too hot itll carbonize and make that black stuff

yeah but when i burnt the other p tex it wasnt flakey, it was just this one on the side by the binding. Is there anything i could do to have to ski stop chipping, like paint urathane on it or something like that or is that a bad idea

yea the black stuff was just the carbon from the p-tex, should not affect performance, i dont know what to do to stop chipping, but it does not have an affect on the ski unless you chip off like the entire topsheet, you should be good man.
