Info off the Tremblant one:

June 20 : Chill on the Hill

The thrill of winter. The fun of summer.

Forecasting snow: NESTEA Chill on the Hill dares to defy Mother Nature by throwing the ultimate party by bringing winter and summer together – for free!

In addition to skiing and boarding, event-goers can hang with pro athletes and attend workshops led by Canadian boarding pro and Olympian, Justin Lamoureux and the first and reigning Olympic Gold Medalist in Snowboardcross (SBX) at the 2006 Olympics, Seth Wescott, from the United States.

Canadians can then turn their outdoor appetite from the thrill of the quarter pipe to the hot vibes of the beach and hit the sand for a game of volleyball or Frisbee, or hang poolside and take in the scenery.

No party is complete without great music

After a great day of sun, snow and sand, guests can end the day by rocking out to Montreal's own Sam Roberts Band at Mont Tremblant. Bringing snow to the summer is a refreshing possibility that NESTEA® Chill on the Hill is making a reality.

Using 300 lb blocks of ice, the blocks will be chipped in to very fine flakes to create snow. The snowmaking process will take approximately two days and will cover the Equilibre hill at Mont Tremblant and create a railslide and quarter pipe snow park.

Schedule of the day 10am to 6pm

  • Hill side: Rail & Quarterpipe (2 flat boxes and a rainbow rail?)
  • Chill side : Sand, beach volleyball and two pool
  • DJ set
  • InteractiviTEA Lounge

1pm to 3pm
  • Workshops led by Justin Lamoureux and Seth Wescott

7pm
  • Sam Roberts Band (free concert)

The events for the glen eden one are probrobly different, like we wont get a free concert but I'm sure the concept is more or less the same. According to the people that went to this one, it sucked only because it was unorganised and too many people. But I'm hoping that we'll have way less cause it IS Glen Eden after all.

Date off the facebook is suppose to be August 22 but ive read off news sites that its on July 18th so idk yet. I'm going cause its a chance to be on snow one last time.

common man its gonna be packed enough allready, do you really need to post this? I mean we may as well put it in some snowboarding forums.
I am telling everyone this event is gonna be shit, glen eden had the worst park in the east this year, bar none. The park crew will do an unbeleivably shitty job setting it up its gonna be a fucking joke.

^ thats a really shitty attitude to have man. This is bringing a sweet one day event where a shit ton of skiers and boarders can get together and chill out at Glen. We get to hit a couple rails and a quarter pipe in the middle of summer! who cares if its packed, the more the marrier man, itll be a fun day of shredding with a bunch of Ontario kids, how could you ask for more?

I think its gonna be a sweet day, Ima try to get myself up there for some shredding and pictures, hopefully everyone else can make it too!

man if it was any other hill id be psyched, but honestly glen eden is such a shit hole with such bad management that i cant help but have a bad attitude about it. Im stoked to ride snow but not having to fight a million groms from all around the gta to do it.Like you honestly want to have to deal with more people jumping you in line? Cause from the sounds of the one at tremblant thats pretty much what happened. And that one wasnt near a population of 6 million people.

well from what we see here not very many check regionals in the summer, but the whole thing is that this event is to get kids stoked on skiing in the summer, and seriously dude, its gonna be a bunch of teenagers there, so anyone that tries to line jump is gonna get knocked out haha. And yes there park is usually pretty shitty, but I'd rather have a shitty setup for a day than no snow and no skiing all summer.

Im personally stoked!

Im sorry for argueing about this up there^

I just saw a commercial on MuchMusic for it, now its officially gonna be pretty stupid.

just saw an add on muchmusic for this. probs gonna be wack but still should be alright wish my knee wasnt jacked up. physio starts next week! beyahhhhhhhh

just saw the pics of the whistler one, actually looked pretty sick..alot better then the tremblant one. but then again glen eden's park staff and features arent exactly the best so i'm not goona compare

I think im going to go. Its all over the edge and much music... why the fllllip would they pick glen eden? Its going to be packed full of gapers. fuck, i dont know.

they chose glen because they have no idea how to tell a good resort from a lump in earth that rounded up a bunch of preteens and bro-boarders to fix up what is better described as a minefield than a terrain park. Based on the footage from whis, it could be good, but based on the fact that glen edens park is usually worse than whistlers in the mid 70's, im not gonna bet on it

haha on the facebook page it says there is gonna be a quarter pipe of snow. i have a felling it won't be good because glen edens park wasn't good this year. but its free and there is snow.... in the summer!!!!!!

stop complaining. im sorry. i agree that they could have chosen something better than glen eden. but at least its happening

im only hoping that the weather is nice and sunny, the line isnt too long and that the park staff pull off a good setup.

you can be damn sure that at best you're gonna go 2 for 3 on that one
but then again its being advertised on mix 99.9 and the weather this whole summer has been crap
but then again its a little snow in the summer which i shouldnt complain about

whats the setup supposed to be?? it says there is gonna be a quarter pipe but that sounds better then there winter park....

I'm predicting that they'll have both double bar rails out (shotgun and down) and maybe either the green boxes or the 20ft (?) long box.

prawbs not the flat rail, seeing as its bent in half, bet on the triple barrel and the green boxes, seeing as the park staff is way too lazy to grab the 30ft box and drag it over

i heard nestea brings their own stuff, so its not gonna be any of edens features, apparently theres a wallride

this would be awesome. weather isnt suppose to be too bad. a little cooler then its been these few days, but we'll see. pretty psyched

alright, so i jsut got a whole load of info for chill on the hill as my friends uncle is the cordinator for the event. so here is whats going to go down.

they are trucking in 55 tons of ice and chopping it up into snow late tomarrow (friday) night.

it will be held at the kiddie hill near the parking lot just south of the train tracks.

there will be small, medium and large features.

6000 people are expected to be going to chill on the hill

free nestea

and rumer has it there will be a T bar running to tow up the hill instead of hiking.

get there early. they are expecting the snow to melt fast so gedt there early for the comp.

o and also all of the bands, food and vollyball games and other stuff not snow related are on the back side of the beginer hill.

it was pretty fun. atleast until the people running it decided to let the line cutters in from the side >.>... for the comp a guy in full amplid gear and another guy with dumonts killed it!

it was sick. only got like 6 runs in because there was about 250 kids boarding and like 4 or 5 skiers. hey but still sick event and pretty good organization. there was a DFD box set up and FD box. the guy with amplid gear was sick and so was the guy with the dumonts.
