Chic-Choc

I'm going up with I think 12 people in the spring and staying at the madeline mines hut for a few days. Don't be fooled by the EC locale, it's fkn crazy up there. Like bigger than Mount Washington crazy and you're a SUPER long way out from help should something go down. Def bring your own medical professional and be way WAY up on your avi knowledge. It's just about as badass as the EC gets up there. Gullies, steeps, long approaches and descents everywhere.

Looking to go there sometime late Feb. Me and who I'd go with are all have our AIRE Level 1's, beacon/shovel/probe setups and WFA, but this would be among our first forays into real backcountry terrain. I'm having a hard time finding info on what some of the easier and safer stuff to ski might be, it seems that everything I can find on it is in French. Any good English guidebooks or websites you know of?

Your car is like 20 miles from the hut my man. It's not that kind of place ;)

You certainly can walk to the mountains from the hut though!
