Not really man, grindcore is pretty different from metalcore. Listen to Endzeit then Revenant by Chelsea Grin and tell me they're the same type of music.
 
I have no respect for that type of metal.

To button, chelsea grins old album I would consider grind, but heir new shit has a much more metalcore feel too it, I would understand maybe deathcore, but not really grind, what b-ladd posted is what I consider true grindcore, that bullshit without a melody.

What I think we can both agree on is this: there are too many ____xCores - and too may bands trying to fit into the metalcore/deathcore/grindcore/hardcore/mathcore/nintendocore/hatecore/whatevercore mold when in fact most bands dont fit into one mold, they have influences from many and fit into a few categories. Thats just my opinion.
 
without offending anyone... im just curious. whats the allure to this kind of music? the energy? the technicality?
 
The energy most definitely. Great before contact sports because afterwards you want to go out and rip some dude's head off. It's kind of like Anchovies? You just need to listen to it more often then you're gonna start liking it, it's inevitable.

Glad to see EC isnt some dumb 14 year old who thinks its just screaming, regardless of whether or not he may like it, at least he approached the question with an open mind. The technicality/brutality is what makes me listen to it. And the fact that it scares little children. Ever been to a metal show? so much fun. You havent lived until you've been in a real mosh pit. (not talking radio metal push pits.... real shit with brutal music and people that arent high school jocks just looking to push people around)
 
Fuck yeah, I was at a concert this summer for a small band my friend is in called Through Breath And Lividity and there was this 300 lb 6'7" motherfucker just standing at the edge of the pit and chucking people back in that tried to get out, shit was so intense.
On another note, check that band out. They might've changed their name, I can't remember but just google them.
 
yeah i can dig that. i normally cant stand it cause im more into melodies and harmonies and shit. but when im running or working out or trying to get pumped up for sports or something there are times i can appreciate the nonstop brutality of it haha
 
I hate people like that. Most liekly its their first pit and they dotn know what to do, or they jsut dont give a fuck about pit etiquette and they are angry because they are fat. They look dangerous, but they are relatively safe when people follow a few "rules" (hleping people up, not actually hiitting people, not pushing people onteh ground etc)

I was at big say out last summer with some radio metal crap and it was all people who just ran across teh pit and tried to tackle the people who were actually throwing down. I ended up gettign in a fight that day haha with some fat kid. and his HS crew, thankfully I'm not little myself and I was with a bunch of marine buddy's, and pretty much everyone else there wanted a piece of them too so it was pretty one sided
 
haha plus some of your like for it is at least a little bit tongue in cheek right? i hate metal like i said but ive started watching metalocalypse with my friends and its pretty funny cause its just so stupid and completely unapologetic for being so
 
Yeah, when he picked me up I punched him square in the fucking jaw as hard as I could and he dropped me and didn't fuck with me the rest of the night.

I went to a BMTH concert with some hockey jocks and they thought that moshing was just like going around and punching people and shit. There was this fucking HUUUUUUUUUUGE metal head there that had Dreads down to his ass, one of the dumber ones went up and kinda sparta kicked him in the back....HOOOLEEEYYYY FUCK I thought the gates of Hell had burst wide open. He started screaming and shit and just hit the kid once, I fucking heard the smack over the music AND all the people. That's how loud it was. Kid just crumpled and his buddies dragged him outside cause he was out cold, soooooo funny.
 
I would hope most people dont take the lyrics seriously with lyrics like this:

i prefer adult contemporary extreme progressive metalnamely between the buried and methe diversity/technicality of the music is amazing
and mathcore is also really cool but you have to have a deeper understanding and appreciation for music than you can gain just by listening to ityou have to actually know theory or you think it's just noise
kind of like thismost people hear it and think "oh yeah they're just yelling their lungs out and they have no idea what they're doing"too bad they're amazing musiciansbut i think the whole killing-stuff-is-cool-let's-go-rape-people thing is kinda lamecuz it's really all a gimmick except for those weird black metal bands that actually do that...

btbam is my favorite metal band of all time, their new album, teh great misdirect may have topped colors. This is my favorite song by them though, from alaska:
