Checking Skis on United

alright so im going to the xgames next week, im flying from boston to aspen and connecting in denver. is it going to be ridiculously expensive to check my skis? am i better off shipping them to my friends condo?

It depends. You can bring your skis and count them as one of your two allowed checked bags and will not be charged but if you have more gear than you might have to pay a small amount. My dad works for united and said that it shouldn't be very pricey.

I just checked skis on United a week ago. $15 for each bag checked and it has to be under 50lbs or else your fucked with a $225 fee.

I fly united into denver quite a bit, and if your check 2 bags, one of them your ski bag, its only 40 bucks

so theres no "oversize baggage" fees, just overweight fees?

if you do end up taking them through united i would wrap them up in towls so they dont get messed up and scratched!!!!!!!!
