Cheapest way to ski Jackson Hole/Grand Targhee

Hey guys, I'm planning on driving my van out to Jackson Hole this winter/spring. I want to try and get a couple of days in either at Jackson or Grand Targhee. I know Jackson is on the Ikon (which I don't have), just wondering if there's any sort of package deal for Targhee.

Obviously both resorts are $$ just wondering if there's a hack to ski them.

I'll trade a case of beer for a buddy/employee pass :).

Idk about JH but me and my sister got a cheap AirBnB out in the sticks near Driggs to go ski Targhee last year and it was fun. It was like a literal shack with a bed and bunkbed, so you should for that kind of stuff. Take a stop to the Naughty Pine while you're there too.

when I was a liftie there a long time ago, we took beer and green passes all day. especially on the gondi. I would stand there scanning, saying to myself, 'who's got my green pass' the whole shift. funny, no one ever tried on the tram...

I don't know how to bribe the ticket checkers but I bet there's a way.

The Jackson Hole motel 6 is goated with the sauce... two queen beds in a comically small room for $300/week last time I stayed there, managed to fit 4 guys. Looks like they rebranded to "Jackson SouthTown Motel" now. Worth a night if you want a shower and a warm bed between stints of van camping.

I will say that when I was at JHMR I was disappointed, which is largely due to when I went (end of December 2020). Mega-crowded (like show up an hour before opening just to get to the top of Sublette chair at 11am), touristy, slightly tacky vibes, and despite loudly bragging about having the deepest snow pack in North America at the time and an amazing snowfall for early season, little was open.

Obviously the terrain and snow is naturally amazing in Jackson, but it feels like you need to go during a less crowded time, or just go to Targhee which I've never been but looks dope.

Green pass worked for me at Jackson back in the day. Once you make that first lift you can stay up high where they don’t check tickets.

How much we talkin like a couple Js ??

Green pass is less likely to work these days, just ski Teton Pass, it's free and less crowded. The JHMR "hack" is to drop like $500 for a guide on a pow day, you can skip the tram line all day and the guide will show you stuff that's not skied out.

I thought the title was how to do it cheap. I can think of much better uses of $500.
