Cheapest/Best place to get bindings mounted?

Hey I was just wondering what the cheapest/best place to get bindings mounted in Vancouver? Or Langley if there's any place out there.

Cheapest is good as I'm on a really tight budget but still want a good job done.

Learn how to do it yourself.

It is the only true way to mount for free, unless you get hooked up.

Comor on West 4th is the most legit place I can think of. Not in terms of price, but quality

Any place that you have friends at is the best place to get things done. Teckies usually do things for beer.
But getting a head-start on learning to mount them yourself would definitely be beneficial. It's not that hard, especially if you have a drill-press. All you need is the template for the clamps you're going to use which you can find on TGR. There are several DIY guides over there.

I don't know about anyone else in this thread but I would not trust myself with mounting my own skis, especially since shops fuck it up all the time

Yeah Zav, gonna have to disagree with you there. We have jigs that adjust and significantly change with BSL, plus the appropriate drill bits to drill multiple types of cores that vary from material to thickness and density. Bring the skis to Comor on 4th, our tech Jacob is the shits corn bits [and i mean he's fucking awesome], and the manager Pavel is a god for repairing anything that has gone wrong with a ski. For a 6 pack of GOOD beer your a cool guy, for a 12 of Pilsner or Canadian, your the coolest guy in the universe and the whole shops best friend. Either way, 20 bucks is worth the piece of mind to know your bindings aren't going to rip out of your ski... and knowing that if they do you have a shop that signed off on the mount, so that if anything goes wrong and its the mounting jobs fault, you have a legitimate shop backing you up.

Haha well I spend my week days in Langley and weekends in Vancouver where my skis usually stay so Vancouver is actually a better option... I would jump on this whole beer gravy train but I'm not legal to buy beer so it's just easier if I go with cash. How much is the mounting at comor?

That sure beats the hell out of this other place I emailed that said it would cost between 35-55.

Nah I'm still in high school. I go to the Langley Fine Arts school out here and stay with a friend during the week.

I got a pair of Look TT 07s for cheap. Does anybody know how old they are? Wondering if they're too old to get mounted by a shop.

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I'm looking for more current information on this matter and I'm sure others can benefit from this information as well.

I just picked up some new Thall with STH14 bindings and need them mounted. Where have you personally gotten yours done and we're you satisfied with their work. A price point is also be appreciated as we can gauge what it will cost at various locations.

Here is what I've found out so far from my brief research of local ski shops.

NorthShore Skis and Boards: $40 and done overnight. I've heard good things about them and they seem very knowledgeable. My friend had his done there and say their service is second to none.

Comor: Another shop that I've heard good things about. Turnaround time seems a little longer but the work is top notch. Don't know about pricing but heard they're not cheap... (heard they will do it for a 12-pack, is this true anymore?)

Vancouver Skis and Boards: Went to their shop a few years back and they seem like cool guys. I think they said it would cost about $35-$40 and turn around time was 1 day if they're not busy and 3 days if they're busy. They seem to have a lot of broken and damage skis in the shop for repairs.

Crystal Glide: A buddy of mine had his done there and he was satisfied with their work. I think he said it was $35, but this was one and a half years ago. The screws in the heel started to come out a little and they fixed free of charge and quickly. Any more info on this place would be great for those of you who live in North Vancouver as this is where it is located.

Swiss Sports Haus: My dad had his bindings mounted here a few years back. Top notch work from what I could tell and they were very helpful along the process. Real ski junkies in there and they are a class act. I think they charge my dad $45 for the mount, but once again, this was 3 years ago and I'm sure pricing has changed.

I'm not trying to take any thing away from those who do it themselves, but I just rather have a legit shop back me up with this sort of stuff.

What about shops like MEC, Snowcovers, etc... I want to avoid Sportschek as my friend had a really bad experience with them and I refuse to let them touch my gear.

Crystal Glide is the most legit shop for repair/tuning work in the lower mainland in my opinion. I haven't had skis mounted there but will use them in the future for sure. My skis look brand new every time I bring them there.

Snowcovers is hit and miss, they have had some morons working there in the past (last season they fucked up a friends Gotamas somehow even with their brand new Montana machine). They also charge a lot.

Thanks for all the info guys. After talking to each shop tech, I've found that most of them are down right chill and very knowledgeable. You really can't go wrong with most of the shops as they sign off on all their work. I chose Comor to do my mount as it was the closes to wear I live. $35 and one day turnaround time was good enough for me.

Comor charged me 30$ for a mount. So unless the price has gone up recently, they are probably the best for price to quality ratio.

Also a little tip: if you're filling old mount holes yourself, go to sport chek and they will give you the pegs for free most of the time.

Bumping this, any updates for 2012/2013? Feeling too lazy to drive over to Crystal Glide for a mount so I am going to try Comor on 4th, do they still have legit techs this season? Just a pair of STH916 so nothing fancy.

Turnaround is a bit slow right not (drop off today = done Monday), they must be busy... but I really shouldn't bring new skis up to Whistler this weekend anyway.

I went to northshore ski and board last week and they did my mount in about 15 mins. Charged me 40$ but they hooked up a fast one so I can't complain.

Zav did a killer mount on my new ninthwards for a 12 pack of cariboo. Even hooked it up and fixed my FKS bindings for me! Comor in burnaby is a legit shop. Bring your beers for top quality service. Couldn't be happier when i was shredding the foot of fresh last sunday :) Thanks zav!

Ended up going to North Shore after work today, $40 but they will have em done by Friday (or tomorrow possibly). Called around to Comor and Snow Covers, both were Monday at the earliest.

FanatykCo in Whistler

Definitely won't be the cheapest option, but this shop is awesome for everything. My recommendation for boot fitting too.
