I built a table out of an old door, and like 18 feet of 2x4's. I used the extra scraps of 2x4 to make a really ghetto, but perfect vise. It doesn't move or adjust or anything, but what i did was take a piece that's like 3 inches wider then my toe pieces, and then screw two sections of 2x4 that are like 4 inches tall onto the top of it so they are standing on it, with the width of the toe piece between it (hopefully a little less then that wifth actually). Then I drilled out some of the wood that the front of the toe piece would touch when I slide them into it and made a little pocket that it clicks into when it reaches a certain point. I also made a piece the tail of my ski would slide into, and hold the rest of the ski stable. That was just a 2x4 sticking up out of the table with a groove in it where the tail could fit in.
I would just slide he tail of my skis into the slot on the 2x4 on the side of the table, and then pop the toe piece into its part, and tune to my hearts content. It worked perfect!
