CHEAP place to stay near Mammoth?

I'm from the east coast but living in So. Cal. for the winter. Are there any super cheap places to stay near mammoth? I might just sleep in my car like I used to when I skiied tahoe if not...

And is anyone gonna be up there this weekend who skis stuff other than park?
 
Motel 6 and Travel Lodge are the cheapest places in mammoth pretty much. Rooms in Bishop are waaay cheaper than mammoth, but its a 40 min drive.

If you really wanna sleep in your car, the heated parking lot under Juniper Springs hotel is prime, you need a room key to get in, so your best bet is to follow somebody in, and make sure you go to the underground one, it is way less sketchy. Juniper is right by Eagle Lodge and chair 15.
