Cheap Lodging in Mammoth and Tahoe

Planning to hit Mammoth and Squaw this spring break and am currently on the lodging search. There will be 3 of us, so I'm guessing hotel rooms will be the cheapest, but I don't know anything about either area so does anyone have any suggestions/experience?

For Mammoth Lakes Motel 6 and Travelodge are the cheapest motels and are centrally located in Town( easy to walk and take the bus).

Th Davidson St Guest house is a hostel that is located at Lake Mary Rd and Davidson St( not good for walking or taking the bus around.) They have bunk beds or private rooms with multiple beds. You may be able to find a cheaper motel but having kitchen is clutch.

There are also tons of condos on websites that start around $100 but there is usually a cleaning fee.

This. You could also look into Bishop if this stuff is too pricey. It is a 40 minute drive but it is cheaper.

I have not lived in Tahoe in many years, but if you are willing to stay in Reno you will find lots of cheap options. The casinos can be fun to party in too. When I lived in Tahoe some of the casinos had shuttles to take you up to the mountains. Those casinos in Reno are not all that expensive and some of them are pretty nice. Do some research and you might find a nice room for 100 per night during the week.

Will you have a car?

Sweet, thanks for the advice guys. Looks like Mammoth Air Bnb options are pretty limited, but lots of good options around Tahoe.

And I'll definitely look into Reno and Bishop as cheaper options, drive doesn't sound too bad.

Yes, We will be driving my buddies minivan from Colorado so we're more flexible as far as distance from the mountain.

Reno for sure. Casinos have great deals. I'd let you crash at my place but I can't fit 3 of you haha

Nugget in Reno is like $35 a night during the week. They have a mechanical bull in the bar at the C&W bar. I've never ridden it, but played lots of video poker and their machines paid out decent.

I've stayed at the travelodge in mammoth multiple times and for the price it's pretty decent. Real close to the resort and within walking distance of some cool spots in town. The owners were real friendly and nice as well.

If it was me I would pay a little bit extra to stay somewhere in Truckee over Reno. The drive isn't the worst but it's so much nice to just wake up and shoot 10 minutes down the road to Squaw. How long will you be here for and when?

The plan is to ski mammoth 3/15 and 3/16 and ski Squaw 3/17 and 3/18. It's gonna be a bit tight time-wise as my buddy with the car can't leave CO till 3/14 and I gotta be back in class on the 20th, but we'll see. Gonna try and ski telluride that first weekend and then maybe catch a few laps at Alta on the way home if we really do it right.

You're telling me people don't like sleeping in a dirty clothes filled storage room? What?
