Cheap Airline tickets

Does anyone know how to score dirt cheap airline tickets? I got a full time job and extra cash on the side so I thought I should get out of town once in a while. I heard a long time ago there were airline tickets to fill empty seats on airlines but I can't find anything about those online. Help me out, it will be greatly appreciated.

I'm in Los Angeles if that helps?

on southwest, those tickets are called just wanna get away. theyre cheaper by quite some margin. mostly availiable on day and or night flights

Spirit Airlines is the tits for cheap airfare. I'm in the 9$ fare club and they're always emailing me about crazy deals. Recently I could get from Fort Lauderdale to Chicago, round trip, for $45. 45 fucking dollars. You couldn't ride a camel there for that cheap. They can screw you over with bag fees, but if you go into it knowing their rules and do everything ahead of time then you're fine.

Dirt cheap as in less than $100 round trip, no bags, just myself looking for a good time in a random ass city for a day.

Dude I'm telling you, Spirit is the way to go. I mean yeah the seats suck and don't recline but who cares. If you're feeling rich you can even upgrade for 50 bucks to their "Big Front Seats" which is like Spirit's version of first class, and is much nicer than the average seat on United/Southwest/Delta/whatever and the ticket will still cost you less than it would on those other airlines.

I'll give them a shot! I mean what's the worst that can happen? Thanks dude.

Spend years on flyertalk figuring out routes. Use sky scanner for quick filtering and then check the airline site directly. Get transfers, fuck direct flights, fuck flight attendants, disregard the cheapest of cheap, acquire miles, get higher status, repeat, more miles, more status until finally you can fly Swiss first class consistently and have a massive boner over the fact that they serve Balik salmon.

I have an app called flighttonight, it shows you all the bdlights that are cheaper then normal leaving the airport within 24 hours

The tickets you are referring to are stand by tickets. You can only get them if you are or know an airline employee. It's risky if you do get on because you can get stuck in weird places for a very long time. And people with higher seniority are always bumping you off.

the thing with spirit is, they charge you for everything.. if you bring a legit carry on suitcase, they will charge you for it, their checked luggage prices are ridiculous too..

spirit is only dirt cheap if you can travel only with a back pack.

even if southwest is slightly more expensive than other airlines, you get 2 free checked bags with them. so in the end, you save money. southwest flights dont show up on any sites like expedia, travelocity, etc.. so you have to check them independently.

most of the time, the prices you find on expedia and sites alike, will be the same prices on the actual airlines site.. if so, book it directly with the airline, and skip the middle man, so if there is a problem, you're only dealing with one company, not two.

if you're planning on starting to fly frequently. pick one or two airlines and stick with them. fryer miles add up, and the perks of having a credit card with associated business is also very nice..

Check out the skiplagged app, it shows you cheap flights where getting off at the layover in the city you want to go to is way cheaper than a traditional ticket. You just can't check any bags cause they will end up at the final city.
