He's not really copying anyone, he wears normal fitting clothing. How many people do you see doing that in PC? Plus, spinning both ways and dubs? So sick. Stop the hate..
 
Thankfully clothes don't affect your ability to ski so we can eliminate that from your response.

Spinning both ways has happened for a long time.. just like double flips.
 
Just cause he isn't wearing tight pants and surface skis and screwing around on the sides of jump doesn't mean that wasn't sick. It was cool to see a guy with normal fitting clothes and not afterbanging while doing double flips. I agree he looks like the next Jon Olsson.
 
I just watched 5 tricks over less than 60 seconds.

All of which I would imagine Jon Olsson can do.. with confidence regardless of clothing style, musical choice or "bang"ness.

..wouldn't Chase being the "next" something mean he showed an ability to do what Jon can do.. PLUS something else?

Post a vid that shows the above and I'll eat my words.

 
Making the assumption that chase is much younger than jon, this shows that unless he forces himself to stop learning tricks, the fact that he does near equal tricks now might cause one to believe that in the future, he will progress far beyond jon will....

..why? Because Jon is the standard we're judging Chase on, not the other way around. Therefore he's got a long road to walk before becoming or surpassing Jon.

Wouldn't the "next" Jon be Jon+ rather than just Jon=?

Either way Chase is being judged on a personality that is a mainstay and a pivotal icon in this discipline of our sport in terms of professionalism and competition..

..style.. maybe not. Jon's always been about perfection (perfection and style are far removed from each other IMO), he admits it gladly. Perfection wins contests and brings home cheques. Big cheques. I don't blame him for a second. Its sound business.

..is it sound "style"? Nope. If you want style look at Tanner Rainville, Liam Downey, Durtschi, Tanner (late shifties in the pipe spins), Wallisch (currently the most prominent), Seth, Pollard, Anna Segal (OMG A WOMAN?!) or any of the pros that have lent their paycheques out to truly be "originals".

These are the people the Chase Crane is truly contending against to the be "NEXT" anything.
 
The kid fucking kills it. He is throwing jon caliber tricks, with similar style at a younger age.
And if I employ your little math equation
Jon = Jon at current age Chase = Jon - 5 (estimate) years of progression
No reason to try and down play this kids talent...
 
Well if he looked like Tom, Hornbeck, Seth, Pollard, Rainville or anyone else you would be bitching about him looking similar to them too. Chase looks a bit similar to Jon but I saw a couple grabs in there Jon doesn't do at all. Chase is also younger and developing as a skier. There isn't anything wrong with looking up to someone as you develop your skiing. Im sure that as Chase pushes his skiing farther, he will develop his own tricks. But the fact that he spins both ways and does double flips in this shows that he has a lot of talent.

Solid attempt at using the + and = sign in my last post to indicate there was some kind of math involved. Really, a brilliant stroke of strategic wording there.

Unfortunately + and = together don't create math. Creative though + points for that.

Sure Chase is good at five years younger than Jon but.. honestly.. getting excited about the one kid you've seen 50+ seconds of do a bunch of tricks everyone popularly competing can do and he doesn't wear baggy clothes as well as the music in his edit isn't rap?

..honestly, its says nothing. Most likely there's a kid in Canada who's never been filmed skiing at this level.

Show me a kid doing something that makes Jon's scratch his head in disbelief, sends Tanner to the trampolines for an entire summmer, puts Seth in his place in big mountain and makes Wallisch obsolete and THAT's the "next" anything.

 
What the fuck? This thread is about Chase. Not about finding some crazy kid that slays the entire industry. Your argument is completely off topic. You should probably just make a thread with that post and then you will find people to argue with. No hate but where is this coming from?

The people competing are the big thing, and he can do the tricks they are doing. Usually once people are the big thing, they start progressing the sport. They don't just magically appear and say hey look! I'm better than everyone! and start winning everything.
By this 50 seconds of film, I can tell you pretty surely that this kid will go somewhere in skiing. Depending on his age right now, it could be somewhere huge. Who knows.
It's kind of lame that your spending your night trying to downplay this kid, because he is clearly killing it harder than skiers much more recognized than him.

Again, you're right. It would be lame if my night was devoted to downplaying Chase. Thankfully it wasn't, I wish the best to anyone as passionately devoted as he appears to be. The few minutes I've devoted in total to this thread are more focused on downplaying online hype.

..not that it matters in the end I guess but it was fun to do a little rhetorical exchange.

Rock on Chase and everyone who believes Chase is the next jesus. Honestly I hope you are and that you bring something new to the "scene".

The comment that was made that brought you into this thread was that Chase is the next JO. Meaning he has similar style and is likely to progress beyond Jon in the future, that's it. It wasn't implied that Chase is here to change the ski world, it was merely a comparison. There is no point for you to come and bring hate to an otherwise positive thread promoting someone trying for a chance to compete and make a name for himself. Why can't you let someone get some well deserved attention. Just because his entry doesn't have something mindblowing doesn't mean he shouldn't make it. This edit is ill in my opinion. Chase has a good shot at breaking into the competition scene which is something that you and I will never be able to do. His entry has every thing needed to win; it has switch spins, right spins, dub flips, solid grabs, and style. Thanks for your contributions to the thread, I bet you are a real cool guy.

Chase Crane...that name sounds really really familiar, I think we used to ski together like..7 years ago...
