(Before I get chewed out, I totally know this should go in the regional section but I feel like it would get the most feed back and views here)
For the past two years I have been coordinating a rail jam
in Indiana, PA (about an hour from 7 Springs if that makes more sense) where
all profit made during the competition went to our local Humane Society chapter
as well as collected items such as cleaning supplies and pet food. Since our first competition our event keeps
growing each year setting the bar even higher for ourselves. From the first competition I have brought on
three partners as well as our schools Ski & Snowboard club to help coordinate
the logistics of this year’s event. I
really can’t stress the amount of work and time we have invested in this.
This year’s competition has progressed to the point where we
have gotten permission (after a ton of meetings) to shut down an entire block
of our down town area for this year’s competition. A long with helping out and collecting
donations for Indiana’s Humane Society we are also attempting to save our local
skate park for one more year of operation.
The foundation that allocates funds to our local skate park decided that
$1,500 isn’t worth spending on our youth and plan on closing the park due to rising
costs of up keep.
I would really appreciate the time of the kids on
Newschoolers to take a look at our page, come shred, support an awesome
cause(s),invite some friends, and get some awesome buzz going about our comp December 1st !
