Chaps gap or pyramid

I know a lot of people are gonna laugh at this just like the last thread on how to get to chaps gap. But that kid proved everyone wrong and went and hit chads and ended up getting some real sick shots on it. I'm kinda gettin itchy to go for it this year, whether it just be a straight air or trick it if I feel confident enough. Just wondering how many other people have went and hit either of these gaps.

I know that a lot of the kids on this site are going to think this thread is a troll thread, but I really do believe in my ability to atleast throw a massive mute over the gap, and I'd love to be able to claim that I've hitten the gap for the rest of my life. I got plenty of ski buddies that I know will be down, the only thing that makes me nervous is the guniea pig. If i know i'm going to clear the gap, i'll have no problem sacking up and hitting it. Anyone that's hitten it post in this thread as I'm stoked to go for it this year.

yeah man I got that mentality, like I said first hit is the only one that will scare the shit out of me and I'm hoping to find a guniea pig in the recruiting process

I bet 10% of this site could easily hit either now. I would love to hit pyramid. chad's looks a lot scarier to do tricks on haha.

I highly doubt 10% of this site would hit chad's. It's a 120 foot backcountry gap, not a perfectly sculpted park jump.

I swear my meter had better be broken.

More than 10% of this site has never made a big BC booter.(myself included)That is the hardest part, making a jump that is right to get you the distance so you don't die.

I would also think that less than 10% of this site wouldn't hit it even if there was a jump there for them.

If you are serious, do Pyramid first. If you haven't done a gap like Pyramid, you can't do Chad's. If you build Pyramid and everything goes well, then MAYBE go for Chad's. The guys in the how to get to chad's gap thread had done pyramid before, so they knew how to build a jump.

I would actually think more like .1% on this site would hit chads. ie 1 out of 1000. so about 100 members on this site (excluding pros)

Hitting either of these gaps isn't just about balls. You really have to know what you're doing and put aside a few days to build the jump.

I'm not an expert by anymeans, but I would suggest hitting pyramids first.

inb4 MFM, mack dawg etc, ski patrol blew it up.

Srsly though, my best bud Talon Manning ( hes an amateur ski jockey) hit it up. He didnt really know what he was doing so he got injured but he can still practise on SSX Tricky so thas all good. I'll try and find a vid of his hit

I have a lot of experience building BC booters, of course I've never made one as serious as chad's but I have built plenty of BC jumps

and I think MacDawg crew is bitches so I'm not worried bout them either

anyone else know people that have hit it?

Haha, but I would personally hit pyramids first. Good luck with the inrun and building the jump.

If you do, it will be better to hit it with more than enough speed. You can either under shoot it like tanner hall, or over shoot it massively like that guy in revolver

alright some more elaboration. im not saying you cant hit it. i think we all know what happened the last time NS said that hahah.

but, you need to understand that this isnt a jump you can build in a few hours, its gonna take a couple days of shaping. Additionally, the inrun is not remotely smooth. You have to go over a couple huge whoops and then a massive compression right before you come off the lip, all at 55 mph or so. Last, dont be an idiot and hit it in the spring like when tanner did. Hit it midwinter when there is soft snow, that way your chance of full on death is much slimmer. And finally, make sure someone is ready to get emergency help if things go really really bad. But good luck. Hope you get it.

maybe not 10%. but definitly more than on hundred of us.

I would, I can think of easily 10 friends who would, and I bet they all have NS names. Seriously I could probably go through my facebook and find 20 friends who would definitely do it and like none of them are pros.

now this is what I like to see.

To Ben, I agree completely and will be planning on hitting in in early to mid March. I'm also not planning on undershooting it but also not planning on taking it far too big ( I think I would know in some test runs if this was the case, however i'm not sure) NS has seen this done before, and I'm sure many other TGRers have done the same.

I'm sure it will be at least a two day experience, but honestly with a group of 6-10 people, building the jump and the in run could all easily be done in a day. We all have touring setups if it is very far into the gultch (Im not too familiar with it's locations but I have a couple friends that have seen it)

Moses that video is sick! Exactly what i'm looking to do, send err'

is that you by chance?

like tanner hit it switch in 2005. I know some kids who are easily at tanners level in 2005. Candide hit it like 4 years before that, and did a d-spin.

lots of unknowns can ski twice as well as early 2000's candide.

Ben Murphy did a 360 over it like 8 years ago. So many of his former athletes (he started coaching) are definitely at the same skill level now as he was back then.

not saying that it's not super impressive and scary. Just it's totally doable by more than 100 people in the world.

not I, the skier is Josh Hanson

Honestly, I don't think my legs are strong enough to even withstand the inrun.
