Channel gap...

hope it stays channel gaps are sick. that Pep edit was awesome when he hit those back to back channel gaps. i think they were channel gaps like unfinished ones.

it seemed like it was a little too sketchy for the comp and riders seemed to be deducted for not hitting it. It wasnt helped by the constantly changing conditions either, def pretty sick tho

i understand that gapping the channel is harder/scarier
but its only 3 feet farther than not gaapping the channel

they should push the jump down a tad lower and reshape the whole thing build a hip on each side.. and a straight over kinda spine step down with hella steep take of..

Christ I cant believe that jump is getting so much support. I think its a dangerous piece of shit~

exactly. the only way i could see them keeping it is if they widened the landings on it, and then pushed the next jump down quite a bit.

they should keep the two takeoffs but just fill in the massive gap. but i can't see where they would get that much snow. that jump will kill someone if it is left up.

im sure they wont keep the chanel maybe they will make something else its incredibly dangerou and the wrong type of people hitting it could be devistating

It's a super sick hit that's for sure, but lets face it, that line was so tight it pretty much ruined the X-GAMES slopestyle...it messed too many riders up having the course so tight...my guess is if they keep it they'll have to either get rid of the jump before it, or like you guys said move the money booter down...

I was so pissed at our crew for making that thing, cause on a channel its fine if there is a wide landing because you can carve as much as you want away from the gap, but when its 10 feet wide its just dumb. and the lip of the last jump overlap's with it, soooo stupid...it will be gone i heard

My thoughts exactly. I would like to see safe features in future instead of risky things like that channel gap. I mean, why the fuck would you cross over on that thing? Its pretty much begging for a terrible injury.

they are filling it in for the Aspen Open. i know for a fact. and they probably get the snow from the same place they got the snow from the rest of the enormous jumps they built.

that would mean completely rebuilding both the bottom two jumps... too much effort on their part for sure.

#1) Not enough time to setup properly (too close to previous feature)

#2) Too close to bottom jump

#3) Landings are ridiculously narrow, no idea how they thought that would be ok especially in the middle of a course

I hope you aren't suggesting that the channel gap is easy to hit. Personally I would not be stoked to hit a feature that travis rice got worked on.

holy fuck.
"i understand that gapping the channel is harder"
jesus people.
and you cant argue with pythagorean theorum dave. sorry.
20^2X60^2=C^2

Took the words right out of my mouth! THROW A BIG FUCKING INFLATABLE DINOSAUR IN THERE!!!

And also isn't the point of doing the aspen open for the most part all hyped up because you are supposed to be competing the same course as the pros at the X-Games? So as stupid as that feature may be the way it is set up, (channel gaps are sweet) should they not just leave it in there? I mean if you don't want to hit it as a channel just hit it as a normal table like the majority of people that did it at the xgames. Who knows maybe someone out there wants to make it big in skiing and hits the channel gap and gets rewarded for it by a higher score and possibly first place? Is it really right to take away that persons chances?
Just my opinion but I feel that it is fair that they leave it in.

I live like 15 minutes from aspen so i drive there every day to ski and its official they fill the channel gap in.
