So aperrently I have to much music for my iphone to hold, and I want to lower the bit rate so I can put a few more albums on that I just downloaded. It there a way to change the bit rate of all my music so it takes up less space on my phone? it seems like it would be pretty simple but I cant figure it out and google hasn't helped. Anyone know how to do this?

Can't you do it in itunes? there is an option to compress all of your songs to 128k...

And eheath I thought I could do it rather simply but I couldn't figure it out and spelt probably an hour reading through search results on google and still don't know, thought NS might know

plug your device in, and click on it in the left column of itunes, then go to the music tab, and check the box that says 'convert music to 128k'

bingo.

im pretty certain that there is a way to just convert your whole itunes library to 128. but i think you have to go to each files preferences and convert it. so if you have 1000's of songs, it can be pretty time consuming.

no point in downconverting either, unless you only listen to music from your computers speakers and headphones, as it's irreversible. better to have higher quality files and not need them, then to need them and not have them.

i agree.

if anything you want the highest quality possible, not lowest to save room.

so what if you cant carry around all 5000 of your songs.

have 1000 really high quality fav's.

yeah, i currently have 30000ish on my computer, and 1000 on my phone, but I only listen to about 200 of the ones on my phone anyway.

only convert the ones in the ipod menu. dont do your whole library. dont you understand that all your songs will chop off anything above 16 khz....
