it was real scary. and when i got home i looked up stuff on the real guy and that freaked me out even more. but it was an awesome movie.

ya my samoan friend has the original and he said its kinda scary. so if he said that, its gotta be. they showed 'real' footage before and after the movie. thats what got me

i just read bout it. no chainsaws invovled. the only true part was some dude, 'the real american pyscho' would take the victims facial skin and make masks with it. none of that other shit is true. red dragon and those movies were inspired by this guy too.

the guy's name was Ed Gein (pronoucned gEEn) and i believe it was about 1956ish wisconsin.

He was abused by his mother, and was tormented by her even after her death. He killed 'unclean' women (hookers, sluts etc) because his dead mother spoke to him and told him to.

My take on the movie is, the trailer was good the movie wastn as impressive. I did not regret seeing it, but i wouldnt prioritize but was worth the money to see in the theaters.

yeti has it right...very very loosely based, about a loose as you can get. no chainsaws or van full of teenagers involved at all the guys name was ed Gein and was from wisconsin. He would kill ladies and use their body parts for various parts of his house (shin bones for legs on tables and such) he would keep organs in the fridge and cut off the faces and wear them around the house and shit. Sounds like a good guy to me, it was reported that he would cut off the womens genitals and keeps them in a shoe box! he killed around 15 people or so. And the 'real' footage from the movie at the start and the end was fake. I think we have gone a bit off topic though...Jessica beal looking hooooooot in the movie

^it's not that disturbing. she is pretty hot as a matter of fact. yeah, they really cant say it's based on a true story because it isnt. Pyscho is much closer to the actual story (much more closely related to ed gein). the original TCM was awesome, i loved it but ive heard this new one is really disappointing

i walked by the theater where it is playing two nights ago and 5 or 6 people had just walked out of the movie people=girls i wanna see it. they said it was really gross.
