Centre mounted skis...

ok so i was wondering if anyone had this problem... i asked for centre mounted and they centre mounted my boot creating a longer tail then tip... and how is this to ski.
 
Center mount means center mount. There should not be more tail than tip. The shop should re-do it for free.
 
its a pain when the ski shop doesnt know what center mounted is. I just got mine mounted, but it took like twenty minutes arguing with the guy until he realized what I wanted. He didn't understand why I wanted them actually "centered," when the manufacturer already had a center mark. Oh well, I finally got them back today, and they are done correctly.

That really sucks about more tail than tip though. Grow some eyes in the back of your head.
 
see i just walked into my shop, walked behind the counter, got a measuring tape and a sharpe, and said BAM! and drew a line at top dead center. and now they are beautiful... well the were... there in two pieces right now
 
yah im goin 2morrow to get them fixed and this time im goin to yell and be like listen do the right thing... or someone goin to get a hurt real bad...
 
i still dont get the whole idea....do you guys even several pairs of skis? or just dont give a shit about the skis ability to actually ski?
 
Are you talking about getting the skis redrilled? If you are, then a ski can be redrilled like four times before it becomes weak.

If you are not talking about redrilling, then I don't get what you just said.
 
Ok man, i had this same problem when i got my skis center mounted, and i was like "WOW they forward mounted them!". But then, i figured out how skis were mounted and discovered why my tails looked longer than my tips. When you "center mount" you are mounting the center of your BOOT on the center of the ski, and it just happenes there is more length on the toe piece too the boot than the heel piece is to the heel, making your tails seeming longer. So very though they look forward, they are center, shops arnt that stupid to mount forward.
 
i am talking about the actual position of the binding on the ski...center mounted and the whole purpose of sidecut gets thrown out the window...so do you have a second pair of skis to actually ski with? or do you attempt to slide across the snow and call those turns?
 
keep'm like that. I had a pair like that last year and i can't really tell the difference, from those to my center mounted ones, even on rails. Goin switch, fast feels a little smoother though.
 
do you have any idea how many people ski with their skis mounted at true center? you can still ski forward almost as well, and the ski is infinitely more stable when ridden switch.. not everyone has their skis mounted with turning in mind, in fact that is probably the last thing kids think about these days..
 
new skis, such has invaders, have equal dimensions at the tip and tail making them the same forward and backward when mounted at true center. it is very possible to ski them, it just takes some getting used to
 
purpose of sidecut thrown out the window? have you ever ski'd a pair of centermounted skis? just because you're ahead of the waist doesnt mean the sidecut doesnt work
 
i have center mounted park skis and pow skis mounted back further, and mounting them center really doesnt mess up how they ski.
 
well sure they stink in pow centermounted, but honestly if i'm on an 80mm waist ski i dont wanna be in pow. centermount can still carve on normal snow fine.
 
the same shit happened to me. i had to explain the whole operation to the guy in the store. also my skis had already been mounted and he didnt understand we had to place the jig on to see if it was goin to miss the old holes. where do they get ppl like that from?
 
I destroy the mountain on my centered madtrix. But I do have another pair of skis for everything but park since my mt's have shitty edges for carving, although I still can hold a pretty decent turn
 
Ill admit that going from 182 centermounted moships top a pair of 165K2 race skis, the USA ones, there is a huge difference. BUT i still can bash gate with ease oin my moships
