Can anybody give me the rundown on the CNY mountains? Where do you ski? Which has the best park?

CNY is a poophole of parks and mountains. I worked terrain park at toggenburg. The crew there is all pretty dedicated riders but management doesn't care about the park so we don't get much time with the cat and the park suffers because of that. We also don't cater to beginners well. If you're just learning park go to lab.

Labrador is like the opposite of togg. Almost always a groomed park and the park trail get snow made on it quickly but the head guy off the park crew is kind of behind the times. They buy stupid boxes and set up the park stupidly IMO. A park not reaching its potential.

Songs park is horrible but probably has the best terrain of the tiny cny hills until you hit Greek peak (which also has an abysmal park).

Woods valley past Rome is getting better. They never used to be on the map for park skiing but new ownership gave them a lot more to work with. The trail layout is stupid however and their jumps are usually pretty bad. They had a really fun 45 footer last year, but it was pretty flat and hard to get enough speed to clear it.

yeah i ski woods valley and take trips to gore, its the closest place( more of a glorified hill really)for me to ski. Sadly only started really enjoying skiing last year and didnt decide to begin park till late in the year. Also havent been to labrador or toggenburg but im sure theyre bigger than woods.

Bristol Mountain in Canadaigua is pretty cool. I haven't been there enough to judge it but when I was there it had a pretty good vibe and their park had some cool features.

i'm from syracuse and am in syracuse for the next 3-4 years for medical school. i'll be up at togg/lab on weekends as soon as my ACL heals up

but yeah, bristol is probably worth the drive if youre near syracuse, youre out by utica though so it's far for you

I'm from upstate NY, originally skied in the Catskills, and went to Andy Bernard's college in Ithaca.

Greek Peak has the absolute worst park ever. The rails are an atrocity and jumps are non existent. Why they put the park on the flattest run of the mountain is beyond me? When there's snow, though, a rare occurrence for central NY, the glades are solid because so many gapers only ski the beginner trails. Not much else to discuss there.

Togg is better but still terrible. There is nothing worse than frozen blocks of ice for massive features. I went like 2-3 years ago and I think half the park had melted then re-froze so the rails were all like 3+ feet on street lips with like 10ft death drops off the side. Then like kickers wayyy too big for the size of the mountain with bombed out, ice rinks for landings.

Overall, I've found central NY and Catskill mountains to be an odd mix of Jersey bros, weirdo upstate rednecks wearing paintball masks, swimming goggles, camo snow mobile gear (literally cannot make this shit up), want to be rich Vail type people but suck, miserably, and the odd park rat fake white boy with three season old SAGA (like totally even behind the trends on NS). Snow is sporadic in the finger lake region and it's always grey and bitter cold.

Adirondacks are legit.

Haven't been to any Western NY mountains but I can speculate that they are similar to Central NY.

I agree on popular weekends at the Catskill resorts.. But, outside the resorts the Catskills are a real chill place.. Let's not get it twisted!

Don't come to Greek Peak unless you want shitty features and to make some new friends. But I'm currently an hour and a half from Greek Peak and like an hour 15 from tog.

If you go to jore and swing through speculator stop by oak mtn and shred some park laps or a berrrrr at ze bar. I'll be living up there again this winter Also my first time at woods was the spring the season before this last post season and had a good time shreddin some stuff. The crew there is pretty cool.

Windham is shit. Hunter's better in literally every way.

It was one of those mountains that should have a sick park but never really did. That said Keith from NAshoba snagged the manager spot they had and will probably turn things around there. They have the space the features and the budget.

Also grew up in the southern adk's here. Rode lab 5 or 6 times 10-15 years ago but that's all I've done out that far. SOmetime I'll get out to cny for something other than music. Actually probably not

word i'll be around the cny scene this year, hopefully i meet some of you guys. I know exactly zero park skiers in cny so feel free to hit me up

I build everything at Oak. Curious when you went. Unfortunately management didn't give me the space I was planning on taking for last season but this coming season it will be expanding. Hoping to build a small wood park, in addition to a new intermediate advanced area, leave the beginner area where the park was and then through a super into section near the ski school.

If you're ever heading up there again let me know and I'll tell you how everythings lookin.

Or check here. I update it a few times a week all season.

Another thing with Oak. Everything is new so the park has really only been happening the last 2 seasons. Last season was the first REAL year where there were some decent features from preseason to post season.

Hopefully I'll be able to build a few more features, a 8' by 12' wallride will be out, I'll finish the 20'x6' df rail, and hopefully find some steel to build a couple more things. Maybe some more boxes and or tube rails.

But let me know what your thoughts were. If the space was too tight, features weren't your style, things weren't set up right, you didn't like the colors or anything. Always down for feedback.

I actually really enjoyed oak's setup last year. It was a bit different but i liked the variation of rails and boxes you guys had, though you really dont have much room for too many big jumps. I thought you set up most of the rails and boxes pretty well and they transitioned nice from one to another. Side note.... i saw more chicks skiing at oak last year that i have ever seen at woods all season.... maybe it was just the day but holy shit dude i felt outnumbered... it was great :D
