Center mounting....?

I ordered new skis which just arrived yesterday, 4FRNT YLEs, and I noticed something which may or may not be right. They're symmetrical, so they're supposed to be center mounted, yet when I flip one ski around, it seems like the mounting line is ~1 cm back, so there's 2cm from line to line. If it was actually a center-mount line, wouldn't it be in the center, or am I missing something?

Also something else peculiar I noticed, on each ski, one edge wraps around the tip and tail while the other is only on one side. Sorta odd.

im not sure about the mounting issue, but everyone ive talked to says -2 is the best mounting spot. and as the edge wrap, my crjs are the same way. they like put the normal edge in and then in the tip and tail its a whole separate piece of edge (note. this piece of edge is fairly small and just wraps around the very tips and tails)

I've heard many things on YLE. The dimensions are symmetrical but I've heard that the ski is cut a little different in the tip and tail even tho it's symmetrical. Also they picked -2 as the mounting point so you can still have a nice freestyle ski but also be able to do great in the pow. They found if you mount at dead center they don't float as well. Personally I'd go -2.

If you want them mounted at true center then tell the shop techs when you take them to the shop. If they're good techs they'll measure regardless, but to be sure just tell them that the lines are off and you want them mounted true center. Measure them yourself and draw your own lines if you want.

Sounds like they aren't centre mounted indeed, but also I don't think it's a good idea to remount because of 1 cm. They won't feel drastically (or even at all) different.

You're actually right. I checked and instead of 138-118-138, they're more like 138-118-136. Also, the camber profile is slightly different tip to tail. My OCD is kicking in right about now, but whatever. The lines are set 2.5cm back, but I'm gonna do my own measurements to see where I'll mount 'em. Thanks.

One thing you may want to try is find the center between the contact points. Doing this will find you the center of the skiing surface and may be more beneficial then just finding the center of the overal length of the ski. In general though like others have said you would not generally want to center mount a pow ski especially if the rocker profile is not symtrical. I mounted some rocker 122's at center and they actually have a symmetrical rocker but they sucked. I was constantly going over the front. -2.5cm works perfectly on them. So for your skis I would certainly recomend coming slightly back from center.
