Center mounting..

ok so i have some rossignol scratch sprayer bc's

they are already mounted back from center.

im starting to ski more park as spring is coming.

should i get them remounted center?

would it weaken them?

is it worth it?

yeah i would say do it. Its doesent weaken them much at all and if your skiing park then for sure. but if those are your only skis and you ski big mountain to then i would say no.
 
i prefer center mounted skis but i think you would be good to move them to like -2cm or so from center.....sounds good to me if you are still gunna do some all mountain..
 
you will notice a world of difference.....it will be better for park

pros: makes park skiing more effecient, easier to do switch hits, swing wieght, etc..

cons: have to lean a little further back when riding pow...

and mounting them again wont hurt the ski at all, you have like 3 or so good mounts to a ski..
 
i have those skis and centered them. theyre really comfortable to ride switch with. but it kinda makes turning them normaly harder.
 
when i moved my scratch fs mounts up i noticed that they actually initiated turns easier but were a bit less stable at high speed or in choppy snow. it was a very noticible difference but not so much as to limit my ability to ski the same as before outside of the park.

oh, and dont mount the skis true center, it will really screw with the flex and sidecut of the ski.

even if you were skiing 90% park i would recomend at least 2cm back. the skis arent designed to be center mounted so keep that in mind
 
With anything that isn't symmetrically cut, center mounting takes some getting used to if you've been riding classic mounts. I ride fujatives set a little back from center to match the sidecut. I don't pay a huge amount of attention to the skis out there, but I think Line skis have symmetrical cuts.
 
i love -2cm even though i ride like 95% park. I found if you know how to carve you can still ski groomers fine. Makes worlds of difference switch, on rails, and jumps. I even find its a bit easier to initiate turns you just can't hold edge at speed as well at speed. Glades and crud are fine but the only big loss is moguls. You just can't ski them the same. A lil too much tail.
 
i got my anthems center mounted and they are sick as hell, it really does help in skiing switch and on rails
 
when i got my anthems mounted the guy said the marked center of the ski was actually 1cm back from center so i had to get it 1cm forward for it to be true center mounted
 
i have my walls mounted center, my first centered pair, and they ski very well all mountain. It does feel a little bit different at high speeds on steeps, you kinda have to lay em over a bit further but they ski well. rails are phenomenal centermounted.
 
What length is the ski, how tall are you? where do you ski? where are the skis mounted now? Center mount skis ski short... meaning that a 180 ski mounted center will ski more like a 170 (not an exact number but you get the idea.) Also if your skis are mounted at mid sole ( the mount line closer to the tail on your scratches) then I personally would move them up to the freestyle line if they are your only ski. At that line you will gain much or the benefits of a center mount ski without giving up all of your all mountain performance. If you have another pair of skis that aren't center mounted... then center them up. But it really all depends on the questions above... answer those and you will get a little more solid feedback.
 
not true, i have the same skis and i mounted then 1.5 inches forward of center and they ride better than they ever did -2 back.

everything is better especially switch. its like 10000 times better switch
 
i guess a big question is will it hurt the skis by remounting them?

bcuz i just got them this year and i want them to last at least this and next season.
 
if the ski breaks after u remount them it means that it was going to break before u remounted them so remounting them doesnt really weaken them

 
You can remount any pair of skis at least twice, and as long as they aren't very close together you won't weaken the ski. Some skis perform better center mounted than others. Fujatives for example, are designed to be ridden only a little ways back from center in the first place, the are almost the same at true center. Other skis have a sidecut that puts the ideal mounting point further back, and they will feel much different. The sprayer BC doesnt strike me as a ski that i would center mount. I think you will get a better ski by keeping it closer to recommended. If you can get another ski for park only and center mount that. Rails will eventually destroy your edges anyways, especially if you stomp on em pretty hard.
