Center mounted park skis in the mountains?

The university where I go to school is offering a bunch of different ski trips to BC. Because I am a student and have to save money wherever I can, and I'm trying to spend as little as possible so I don't want to rent. I only have dedicated park skis, as I come for the interior of Canada. I was wondering if my LINE TC's would work alright in the backcountry, or if they would be constantly sinking and a pain in the ass. They are a wider park ski, but I'm still worried about flotation when all of the weight is in the center of the ski. Also, I won't be shredding expert lines, just some nice deep pow. Thanks for helpful responses.
 
how do you know you will be skiing pow? do you have some kind of long range forecasting device that the world doesnt know about?

Im guessing you suck at actually skiing, so yes, you will want to rent a dedicated pow ski if you do in fact get pow while out west.
 
jesus christ go easy.

You don't need a dedicated pow ski, it would make your life easier but I think you would get used to it
 
i have one pair of skis and they are mounted center, so if i ever get the chance to ski pow i just lean back a little, so it pretty much like buttering the whole time, so ya good luck
 
Well, seeing as the trip is in February, AND resorts in Canada have been having amazing snowfalls this year (ex. Sunshine Village), I think it is safe to assume there will be powder. In the slight chance that there isn't, I will have my park skis and this won't be a problem. And no, I'm not the best skier, but I have fun. Anyways, you did kind of answer the question, so thanks for that bit of insight haha.
 
The problem here isn't the type of ski but the center mount. I know I really struggle to ski powder with centered skis, I'm sure not the best skier out there but still, anybody will tell you that skiing pow with centered bindings is painful.
 
February means nothing for guaranteed snow in BC.

I'd say this year is actually below average so far for snow depth. Hell, below 1500M there isn't any and anything below treeline in the Kootenays is still kinda sketch. Doesn't matter, what the weather is doing now has nothing to do with what the weather is doing tomorrow, let alone two and a half months from now.

And I really, really don't think you should be going into the backcountry, especially on park skis.

Seriously tho , if you don't have the funds for skis you're still going to have fun but as far as the bc goes its no joke. drail is right , no BC for you sir .
