Deleting comments , banning users , deleting comments that go against sponsored posts.. wtf NS way to be like Fb and ruin the internet.. newschoolers used to be a place of freedom and now it seems like everyone is all pc, everything has to be positive.. that's just really lame.. what's everyone else's take on this ?

I agree that censorship isn't cool, I'm not on board with that. But is it really such a bad thing that people make an effort to be positive, and kind, and accepting of others?

I still see shit talk on here all the time, and it's usually pretty funny. But I also see a supportive community who wants to spread the love of skiing and give solid advice to people like me who are trying to learn new stuff. idk man, it almost feels like.... just maybe.... you really can have both sides of the coin.

Not really. Internet forums have always had rules. Some forums are super strict, some forums just about anything goes.

slvsh is cool, but it doesn't make a whole lot of money. And those athletes are cool, but sponsors actually paying their athletes is fewer and farer between. A lot of sponsors now just flow cheap/discounted gear, and that seems to be rad enough for the 20 year old kid they can convince to ride the gravy train until a knee or something blows out, then it is on to the next.

It will probably just evolve to something totally different in the next five years. The transition from tall-ts to the track pants new wave thing was totally unpredictable, the next trend will be even more absurd. I almost feel like ski ballet will revive itself in the park scene...

Then again all of this is irrelevant with the buffoon we have in office. Climate change is very real.

I love the shit talking just as much as the next guy, but there are some negative people on here.

That being said, I am not liking the direction of NS. If you give any feedback Eheath just gets butt hurt, the social media is meh, and yeah the censorship isn't great.
 
There are other ski forums out there. Some censor more, some censor less.

There are lots of options ... unless you want to talk about, Future Spins, afterbang, ShinBang, Instabang, newwave, and the first time you smoked pot ... then you are just going have to deal, cuz NS gots these topics on lockdown.
 
I've definitely seen downvotes removed/changed to upvotes on videos before too. Like ok you fucking mod, I don't care if you like the video... I don't.

Youre one of the top 10 worst members I can think of. Its a private site they can delete whatever they want. They still allow shit talking for the most part. I don't know what you are referring to with deleting negative threads about sponsors, but could you blame them. The website is free to use, if nobody wants to advertise here because there brand is just shit on the entire time are you willing to start paying for a membership?

They don't just ban anyone for being harsh. They ban and censor annoying pieces of shit that detract from the community.

Give me feedback on what? Moderation? Videos? this comment confuses me.

We don't delete a lot of stuff, we delete about 1/10th of what we used to delete 4-5 years ago, granted there was more action. Members rarely get banned anymore unless they break the very, simple rules, which honestly the only rules that are ever broken are racist and homophobic language, just immature bullshit. Maybe the community should consider creating more quality posts and threads to "make ns great again" instead of bitching because you want something to bitch about.

NS is like anything else....say really dumb stupid shit, get a dumb stupid prize. Just because it's the Internet don't think that there aren't rules or regulations to how you act on here. It's all part of the member/user agreements.

I've been on here long enough to see all sorts of trolls and to be honest....once you get to a certain age or been here a while it all looks the same and is really what destroys the community on here. It gets old real quick. The real gold is the friends and connections I've made through NS over the years, and the awesome genuine interactions that happen on their own in the forums when people are actually being genuine. Honestly the amount of times I've read "pee in her butt, solid 7and cool story Hansel"....it just ruins legitimate treads for some kid just to feel funny for 5 secs.

If you don't like it then you can move to TGR, or Biglines.

This thread is a lot of complaining, I'm not talking about this. This thread took a turn for the worst between Willy and Toast.

I have come across some posts where people have good ideas/feedback and it seems like you blow them off. That's all I'm saying. I actually really like all your 5 question videos and none of my posts/threads get deleted so I'm not too worried.

I think he is over generalizing a bit. The only example I can think of is the weed AMA thread created by Trvp_Angel, but even that is a poor example.

You specifically called me out on ignoring feedback, so that's why i'm pestering you. I'm not sure what you think my job at NS is, but design and coding of the site is not what I do, I provide feedback to our programmers/designers in beta tests and when we do release new things like the app and desktop site this summer, we look at all of the feedback and work to create the best app/site for our users. I'm a bit frustrated you might think we don't take member feedback to heart, because we do, this site is designed for you, not for us.

There are plenty of situations like that where mods will delete threads they see as a waste, like I said before we delete about 1/10th of what we used to, there use to be 100s of garbage threads that would deleted, now its maybe 1 a day. I didn't delete said post, but I'm sure whoever did delete it did it because it was a stupid thread with no value, seeing at Trvp_Angel makes a new AMA thread every day it seems.

Its hard to just say generically ALL of skiing is growing. The resorts reported growth over the last five years, or at least thats the report I assume you are referring to. That does not mean the ski gear community and its subsets are all growing. You can even break it down to freeskiing vs racing vs leisure skiing and categorize those.

So, generically saying skiing dying or growing is a bit loaded. Its can be both.

My post is nonsesical and I should just not post it, but I like the irony of leaving it in this particular thread.
 
I really hated opening a thread and having to cringe. When this site became popular and 4chan spilled over we had some terrible users. They deserve to get banned. Yes, there is free speech on this site, you are censored AFTER you say something. You need to be responsible, and held accountable for your actions.
 
I was running a pretty funny alias for a while but got banned after just a few posts. Started up another and got banned after a couple posts.

It wasn’t offensive or insulting or anything and was all in good fun. I thought that was pretty lame.

I mostly just post on TGR now. They have a way more active community that is way more involved with big mountain skiing. Plus absolutely no moderation over there. Unfortunately TGR is going through a bunch of drama right now too.
