a few hours or minutes... they got some runs off the backside that are extreme. that place kicks ass. i;ve skied there for 4 years and ive never skid ther for more than 3 days without getting any.... powder that is.
Arse-end of nowhere though (sorry if there are any locals on this board but MAN is that place a trek - Next to impossible without a car as well...).
They get so much windblown being on the edge of the prairie that you don't even need snow for days and you will still get a couple of centimetres. Mind you the wind can make it obscenely cold (-40c> windchill ).
The back chutes are about the longest, steepest, most consistently pitched I've seen in a Canadian resort. Kicking Horse and Whistler have sections that are burlier IMO (anyone here ridden Truth, Dare or Consequence? :O ), but Castle has amazing runs that are just SO long and consistently steep.
castle is fucking sick.. there are few runs anywhere in the world which can compare to the back chutes when the snow is good.. who can't say that they would love to burl it at high speed down a steep constant pitch in a foot of powder for like 2500ft with no people around
some of that extreme backcountry stuff from the site is awesome.. theres one which is sorta opposite the chutes which is awesome.. and one off the backside too which i did a couple of yearrs ago.
