Cast Touring

So I called them last weekend, left a voice mail, and emailed them about getting a boot conversion done, and I haven't heard back yet. Do they normally take a long time to respond or what? Has anyone else used their services before?

On another note, a friend of mine strongly suggested not getting the boot sole conversion done through Cast and just buying boots that are certified for tech pin bindings, so I'll probably do that once I have the money.

My friend didn't have his boots converted but he just said to buy a boot with a certified tech insert because it'll perform better and be safer. He's a really knowledgeable bootfitter so I trust his judgment.

I'm not really going to comment on the cast system as I don't know a ton about it. You might be interested in the setup I'm going with however.

I have Dalbello Krypton Pros and Dalbello Lupo TIs, so you would need to buy touring boots for this. Although alpine boots are not required if your AT boots have din soles.

Then I have Look p18s and Marker Kingpins.

Then Ill buy two sets of quiver killers.

Ill drill holes for both kingpins and p18s and the install the quiver killers.

When I want to ski the resort i screw in p18s and use my Kryptons.

When I want to tour I screw in the kingpins and use the Lupos.

I already owned all this equipment other than quiver killers, so its not going to cost me that much. If your starting from scratch though I'm sure this wouldn't be the easiest option to afford.

its nice that you've stacked up that quiver of bindings but id feel skeptical screwing in an out of the holes in your skis id bet that over time you'd wallow out the holes

No thats the point of the Quiver Killers. They're metal inserts like what you screw snowboard bindings into. They don't change the flex of the ski, and you can screw and unscrew your bindings from them as many times as you'd like.

dope!! I'll have to check them out

I'm waiting to buy one of their systems, called the guy in early October and said they'd be in at the end of the month. Still no luck, my buddies say the guy is pretty hard to reach, which sucks because I'm really banking on them. He answered when I called him, maybe try that? Number was one their site
