Cast Binding Issues

Posting this for a friend who isn't on the site.

Her cast system (1st edition not the new ones) seems to be having some issues.

"One of the toe pieces is having a lot of trouble aligning and locking into place, to the point where it's taking over ten minutes to get it locked in and I still popped out mid-tour. The pins are completely aligned but the binding just won't get close enough together to lock it in. This happens with both boots and does not happen with the other toe piece.

Second, the higher risers seem to not lock in place. They keep clicking against the boot heel piece and going down an inch or so with each step, not staying straight up but shifting to be diagonal. This obviously causes a lot of problems with touring uphill, leading me to have to use the lower risers instead which is not adequate for some of the steeper hills.

I'm hoping there is an easy fix and this is all user error, but I've tried looking up this issue and watching some videos and I'm still at a loss. I reached out to Cast this week but have yet to hear back. Thanks for any help anyone can provide!"

For the toe piece if all 4 posts are perfectly aligned and and mounted correctly and you’re still have issues with lock up then the little tabs that help hold the toe piece onto the posts need adjustments. Sometimes they need to be bent inwards or outwards depending on the current status. That will typically allow the toes to then lock on properly again assuming the posts are aligned correctly. Most times there’s an issue with the original mount of be posts and that’s where the mid alignment comes from.

the heel risers I have no answer. Sorry.

If you get a video of it and email it to [tag=80659]@Cast[/tag] then they can help you out. Extremely helpful customer service. Also on their website, look at the nearest authorized cast dealer. They work on cast a lot and can be pretty helpful.

1086947.jpegCheck to see if these tabs are catching on the posts. If the tech toe is fully locking into the plate and these are still catching just bend them in a little bit. Havent heard of the riser issue yet so cant say without seeing it.

Also the four post version is technically gen 2
