CAST / Binding Freedom Help

Has anyone mounted CAST with binding freedom? What length screw did you end up using?

The heel needs 2x18mm flat-heads, but BF sells only 16 and 20mm. 20mm can easily be shortened a bit.

Additionally, I would recommend using the metal (and not the plastic) Pivot Jig and taking extra care when drilling the holes for the toes

I just got my 20mm after buying 16mm previously which of course was way short and you are correct

just grabbed caliper, inserts and a heel piece to try I measured bolt head with insert on bottom, bolt head will move up and down 0,53mm of course with flat plate + insert often not 0,0 vs topsheet its going to be marginal, but not ideal so you should take some material off, 1mm should be more than enough though.

When grinding/cutting bolt down, please put a nut on the bolt before doing so so threads "fix" themself when removing it.

Be extremely accurate with insert job. I thought my average work would be OK, but it actually ruined whole experience with CAST. Toe piece was constantly getting stuck as I "drowned" couple of inserts too far into the ski, so the screws were either too loose that they basically wobbled or were too tight, so toe piece failed to engage/disengage.

Do you know the rest of the screw lengths? I already drilled the skis and have the inserts in with a pair of pivots. I admit my drilling wasn't the best for one of the toes.

As far as I remember the others were correct:

You should probably tighten the screws with the Pivot toe in to set everything properly. It has tighter tolerances than the touring one.

That's a relief to hear. Been skiing with the pivots last couple days. It was pretty difficult getting one of the toes on, but I think it's settled in now.

Thanks for all the info!
