Reasonable Doubt you say?

Everyone that is saying its so stupid and arguing about how it shouldn't be a big deal...you're making a big deal out of it to. If you're so offended that this is what the news consists of you shouldn't view this thread...let alone watch 24 hour media news.

soo its different anywhere else?

as much as i hate to see her go free the reason our system is like this is to protect the innocent.

i dont know/care where youre from but i doubt with the same evidence she would have been convicted anywhere else.

the prosecution had a solid case, but they still werent able to provide any absolute cause of death that directly linked to the mother it was all hypothetical, there was no physical evidence that clearly stated the mother was guilty, which is what killed the prosecutions case

there is no doubt she was envolved in covering up the death of her child, as i think the whole family was. but she was charged with murdering her daughter and the jury felt there wasnt enough evidence to convict her of that.
as for abc paying for her lawyer is bullshit. abc got rights to their photos and videos and then sold those to other media outlets. She payed Jose baez as i beleave her family had some sort of connection to him? im not sure but i know he was privately picked by the anthonys a few years ago.
and i must disagree with you that tv's should be out of the courtroom, i love watching trials like this, this is a very high profile case that as citizens and tax payers we should be able to see what is going on in the court room while we are paying for the trial to happen.

she got arrested for partying too hard. it's fucking bullshit is what it is. no one should be in trouble for being an awesome party slut. and i'm pretty sure that kid was being an idiot anyways and drowned itself in the backyard pool. tragic, really...

i think it's funny how many people care about this. Why this was on t.v. as much as it was is beyond me. It's fucked that she would kill her own kid and justice should be served obviously. this didn't affect anyone else personally so why care so much? people in america don't have enough problems for themselves so they have to create problems. just my thoughts

She should go to jail for life for not reporting her child missing for an entire month. REGARDLESS of whether or not she killed her. Sick world. I can't believe shes walking away free tomorrow. Can't believe this.

Big difference... In the Quebec case he was found not guilty for reason of insanity. In which he will need to be treated psychotically. (And to be honest, I have more sympathy in that case as a result).

In the Anthony trial, the defense did not even attempt to claim insanity. They went for a total clearing of her that argued that it was all a coverup for an accidental death. She will not be forced to get mental treatment. And in all liklihood, she will now profit off the death since the media will pay out sums to buy stories and all other paraphenalia.

While crimes happen every day and people are murdered all the time, this case drew incredible attention for a few reasons. The behaviour while her daughter was considered missing shocked and captivated people.

this is so very true, i dont get how someone can lose their YOUNG kid for a full month...but hey at least she didnt kill her! lololololololol jk

In a nutshell, she killed her daughter, lied about it for a month until the grandparents reported the kid missing, and in the end got away with it.

Well for someone who really hasn't followed this trial over the last three years, you have some really strong opinions about it...

Anyways, anyone who followed the trial closely knows that the prosecution presented essentially NOTHING other than circumstantial evidence. The prosecution put all their eggs into the "duct tape" basket only to be completely embarrassed when it was proven that the duct tape wasn't the murder weapon. How can you convict someone of murder when you can't even prove they were murdered by anyone, let alone the defendant.

Casey Anthony clearly lied and behaved bizarrely.....and she was convicted of those very things...unfortunately you need more for a murder conviction.

It's terrible that there isn't any closure for that poor little girl, but the blame is on the shoddy investigation, uncooperative witnesses, and sloppy lazy prosecution.

You keep talking, yet you know nothing....

ABC paid 200,000+ for her fucking pictures and home movies of her and Caylee. That was paid 3 years ago. That happens in every country in the world, everyday. Where do you think news programs get graduation photos of victims and shit?

And, NO. The prosecution didn't present a solid case. It was based entirely on hearsay, circumstance, and the notion that because her behavior didn't match that of as stereotypical grieving mother, that she killed her daughter. The prosecution and NO physical evidence in terms of how she was actually killed. No murder weapon, and no medical proof as to what killed her. The prosecution relied on the testimony of laymen that Casey's trunk smelled like decomp. The defense provided expert witnesses that testified against this possibility by dismissing chloroform presence as not beyond the norm, and/or explainable by household cleaners.

If YOU (not the attorney) could divorce yourself from emotion, you'd see that the jurors did the best they could to uphold the law, and considered the facts presented. It's an unfortunate outcome, but it is what it is.

we just actually watched the trial an saw that the defense is the clear winner which is why she is acquitted.

I read this online and i agree with it for the most part. it is well written so it is better than writing something else as my own:

To paraphrase Shakespeare: When you strip away the subjective interpretations, the prejudicial insinuations, and discount the circumstantial evidence, you'll discover, as apparently did the jury, that the state's case was "full of sound and fury but signified nothing".

So many people are willing to convict citizens who are accused of crimes without evidence of guilt; as if the state would never accuse somebody of a crime unless they were guilty.

Whether Casey Anthony is guilty of more than hiding the accidental death of her daughter - and lying to investigators, we may never know. But convictions for crimes should never be done without compelling objective evidence. Nobody should have their freedom limited based on intuition or inductive reasoning.

Having followed this case as closely as possible in the media, my conclusion was that the state was unable to provide any objective compelling evidence to support a murder charge. There was a lot of hype, innuendo, circumstantial evidence, and the typically loud gnashing of teeth by police and prosecutors when their prey lawyers-up and stops cooperating with attempts to hang them; but there was really no objective evidence to support the state's charges.

One must always remember that the police and prosecutors control the pre-trial public statements and design them to make their suspect look as bad as is possible.

That's what's hard for people to stomach- The reality that to ensure that innocent people are not convicted of crimes, that criminals will slip through the cracks. It's a difficult thing to comprehend in the initial emotional period, but the longer it sits on the brain, the easier it becomes to understand.

While I entirely agree, I can completely understand why people are outraged at this.

the jury is fuckin retarded, I watched it for 30 minutes and could tell she was guilty, that court was on crack

yea anyone with a brain knows that, only dickheads like you would chose to focus on that part of the issue in an effort to make your self seem like a more enlightened objective thinker.

i dont understand what you are saying?

and just an update she got the maximum punishment for the lieing to the police officer counts, which is 4 years and they are calculating when she will get out now since she already served 998 days, or something close to that, it is over 3 years.

yea it was really confusing, wasnt it?

Everyone knows the defense did a good job, the only reason to congratulate the defense during this discussion would be in an effort to make yourself seem more enlightened and objective than the rest of us who are just pissed. You don't know anything that the rest of us don't, you basically just congratulate the defense to be different from the majority of the people in the discussion and maybe spout of some of the bullshit you learned in the one law class you took

i agree with most of you that she shouldnt be walking free in a few months, but i dont think the prosecution had enough evidence to get her on first degree murder. aggravated child abuse is what i thought she would be convicted of, because the defense said she drowned in a pool, but shouldnt someone have been watching her? thus being aggravated child abuse.
