Cascade- WTF HAPPENED?

I remember cascade having a superpipe, the bus rail, hell the whole hill top to bottom was park with crazy rails and legit jumps. I know they moved the park on to a different run but now there was one jump, and a few ok rails. why the big change?

theres too many fucking asians that would kill themselves. i think its all about liability issues. it was better last season then the season before so hopefully it will keep getting better

all that liability stuff is bs, if you hurt yourself it's most likely your fault. Trollhaugen was gonna make a cannon box last season but couldn't because of liability issues...so stupid

When was the last time you went to a resort, payed for 4 full price lift tickets, bought lunch for 4 people, payed for a couple lessons, spent a couple hundred (or thousands!) in the ski shop, and ended up the day with a couple rounds of beers for everyone?

Fact is, park rats show up, usually try to scam a lift ticket from someone in the parking lot or get a hook-up from someone that works there, drinks PBR from their trunk. MAYBE orders some fries and eats 1/2 pound of the free pickles and saltine crackers.

but park rats don't spend the same amount of money on food, rentals, and clothing in the lodge compared to tourists. day passes/rentals/concessions/souvenirs not to mention buying hats and gloves and extra warm clothes that an unprepared gaper will buy from the hill's ski shop are a larger business and have a larger profit margin than the every day pass holder/park goer generates.

devil's head has a better park than cascade now. even tho its icy and has some sketchy lips to their rails i still had a better time riding their park than at cascade

^^ yeah i went to devils head a week or so after their accident and the lifts were really slow and little sketchy

i remember back in the day cascade had probably the dopest park i've still to this day ever seen in the midwest and some dope comps too, R.I.P.

they deff stepped it up this past year, the railyard was pretty dope, even though i only got to ski half the season.

YES!!granite peak is so legit it has by far the best park in the midwest hands down. I hope they are puting in there new high speed 6 this year

This is the right attitude to have. We were given a new run to work with and these first two years have been quite the learning experience. This winter will be even better than the past one and hopefully we will continue that trend for a while. I doubt it will ever be like the super park again... jblaski hit the nail on the head about the simple economics.
To the OP: I'm not sure when you visited Cascade, but throughout the majority of the season we had a 3 jump line and way more than a few good rails.
Good news for the Cascade Terrain Parks: There was some serious talk about purchasing a Bison X Snowcat for the coming season. We got the opportunity to test it out for a week at the end of the season and just riding in it was awesome. I would argue that having a good park cat is the best thing that could happen any terrain park. We used the Bison X to build and groom most of the MWO features including the jump. I have high hopes for next season if we do in fact get that cat. No promises though... just a good possibility that we will have it for the coming winter.

I went just a few days before the MWO. The MWO course was being built but the rail yard was open aswell as the beginner park with some small fun jumps

Yeah you came at about the worst time possible... a few days before and it would have been much better. I don't remember but i think we had taken some rails out of the rail yard by then to set up for the rail jam.

i think all you guys need to do for the bottom jump line is nudge it downhill a little more than last season for more speed, have a 2nd jump on it so when its busy all the "newer people to the park" aka FIB's hit the smaller side instead of the main jump, and have that long boxtop just how you guys had it when u first put it up and it wuld be perfect

I've always had good times at cascade except for when I smashed my wrist at the MWO three years ago. Still a fun day.

Go to Tyrol if you want a good park!

ok...well if you can come to cascade and point out one who actually knows how to ski ill take it back. this thread is abut CASCADE. haha im sure you can ski but the majority of them at our hill have a 90% chance of killing themselves or crashing into someone who actually knows how to ski. trust me ive been hit by asians way too many times to remember

i like ryans idea. and ya i have good hopes for the park this year. And if any way possible i would like to use my smart mind to make it better in any way. I hope this year turns out better then the last and i hope the year after turns out better then this year.

If you ask anyone that knows me, i am strictly a rail rider. but i enjoyed the jumps this year. they were a little sketch here and there but i loved hitting them. and i couldn't complain about the rails.

I say great job. you guys no what you have to do so make sure it gets done, and not put on the back burner and say it will get done for the next year.

Any good idea should be thrown out there at least once this year, to see what happens

they were very sketchy. i managed to tear my ACL on the first set of jumps new years eve, they were ok prior, but they had pushed a bigger hill, but still had the same small jumps and i totally overshot. /season.

Sorry about your knee man... just curious, was it skier's left or skier's right jump? New things are in the works for next season... nothing major, but definitely some sick new stuff and a better flow and better layout for both parks. We got a large order of plastic after this past season, so expect boxes galore!

it was the right side jump i believe. i cant wait to get back out next season. sounds like you guys are stepping it up again!

any word on the cat?

Cascades park has sucked since like 07 or 08. Whatever the last year it was in the old location. I usually go once a season now to check it out, and it's always terrible. Everything is shaped bad, MWO jumps where nobody can even get speed. No way the same person is in charge that was there in 2008. Stuff used to be built perfectly, now it's a total wreck.

Granite is good, but too far a drive to do too often. Chestnut has their shit together, thank God, because Cascade and Devil's Head are blowing it. Tyrol is decent.

Well cascade was dope when the guys from perfect north worked the park, now that they are gone, combined with the shitty liability issues, the park has suffered.

the man speaks the truth
Long story short for anyone who doesn't know: Perfect North Slopes in Indiana had some sort of a partner ship deal going with cascade, this was back when their park was $$$ but that deal fell thru and the owner of it now doesn't put as much care into the park as PNS did, between that and liability issues the park was moved, and now is in a very flat spot on the hill, so now park crew does the best they can with what they have to work with
^^^ correct me if i'm wrong in there, as i might be
but maybe now we can put to rest the "Cascade- WTF HAPPENED" thread because we all know, it isn't as good as it used to be.

I miss the 4 jump line with the bigger and smaller hits side by side with the solid big air jump at the end.....those were the good old days...they use to have rails and stuff setup down the whole hill...I miss those days
