Cascade Mtn park is a joke!

So this place has got to have the worst park in the Midwest LOL. Whats most frustrating is they have the futures & $500,000 worth of park groomers to builds a awesome park. Yet no one there can build a jump let alone design something worth a shit. Really sucks as this has been my local hill for long time but the 1 1/2 drive to Granite Peak does not look so bad for next year when going buy season pass. End of rant

Did they lose some cat drivers a few years ago?...I think it was cascade or granite...never been to either but i heard one of them lost some good cat drivers a while ago.

If you know how to have fun skiing, Cascade is a great time. their park definitely isn't as good as it used to be, but I think it's mostly the owner of Cascade's fault for making a whole bunch of liability issues and not caring about the park. I feel like you should know this if you've been a local there for a long time, but anywho quit complaining and learn how to spell.

Yes because spelling every word is so important LOL. Yes Cascade lost a very important groomer & the park has never been the same. I still enjoy going there but it could be so much better with a little effort on the resorts part. Granite Peak has a fantastic layout usually.

where do you live? i live in appleton and nordic mountain has been the one i've always gone too and have been looking for someone to ride with when i'm there

ive been going there ever since i can remember and they used to have the best park, three set jump lines with like a 55 footer at the bottom towards the end of the year, all the rails were sick and it was made as good as you could get in the midwest at the time. every since they took it off the main run under the quad its been terrible

I too have been skiing at cascade for a very very long time. Cascade used to have one of the best parks in the midwest, awsome park, jump line, and pipe. Heck I remember about 4-5 years ago, they had a school bus in the park....phhh now they have nothing, really truly a let down. I might actually complain, as the three jumps they had last weekend were terrible.

Not gonna happen. They have no groomer to build anything & only 2 part time helpers for park crew. If want change I recommend posting something on there FB page complaining about it.

It is VERY interesting that the mindset in the mid-west is that smaller/poorly built and maintained parks are lower liability than bigger/properly maintained parks. It is also a common mindset that smaller is less time/easier to maintain.

There is a massive movement out west to establish park constructions standards, because people are sick of places willy-nilly building parks and telling lies to customers about the maintenance requirements, high costs and improperly qualified/salaried staff building them.

(This is based on my experience in working with many parks/resorts in the mid-west with aging, non-qualified, hick/union/farmer/ex-convict/non-qualified park staff and machine operators.)

Here's an example- cut and clear:

You live in the midwest and want to become a real groomer/park builder (not laborer carrying rails or shoveling all day). What clear cut steps do you follow to do so?

You would think that with an aspect of the sport that is in such high demand, with such high exposure and liability associated, and so many people wanting to jump in to learn, help and make the sport better, some kind of class, certification, hiring program, volunteer program, etc. would exist.

Nope.
