Carrying a Knife (Pros/Cons)

im 15 and ive been carrying a knife since i was 11. first of all, it is a fantastic tool to have. very handy in tons of situations. second, nobody is going to give a damn if you carry a knife around. cops stop me all the time and as long as its not a switch, then they shouldnt care. which brings me to my next point. i have a legitimate switchblade that i carry only for self defense(because im young, you never know) and when i know the popo aren't gunna roll up and search me. if you carry a regular folding knife with a lock and such then it shouldnt open in your pocket,or at least none of mine have. just use your brain about how to ue it. its pretty much common sense.

As for self protection, i think its a terrible idea. Everytime ive seen someone pull a knife it was because they were about to get there ass beat, and if you pull a knife on someone your gonna get gang banged. Shit like that just escalates the problem. And i always think people that carry knives are douche bags. i mean really, your prolly now going to stab someone. and how many times do you REALLY need that knife. Get a damn multi tool or something useful

you just have to know when to use it and since no one said it...
Its better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it..

But seriously, when people said be careful of being stabbed by your own knife, they werent talking about it opening in your pocket. I knife could potentially put you in more danger then without one. If someone attacks you unarmed and you pull out your knife, there is a good chance they could get it from you and use it against you.

this
but seriously, don't pull a knife in a fight. if you don't feel like you can fight, run. chances are if you pull a knife, the attacker will pull a knife and know how to use it. also a knife comes in handy everyday. theres always something that needs to be cut

I own several knives. I carry a knife in my back pocket almost all the time. I carry it as a tool, not a weapon. Any time I go out, I don't carry it. If I go out after work, I leave it in the truck. The few times I thought I was going to have to fight, I got rid of it so it could not be used. I wear it clipped onto my pocket so it cannot be called a concealed weapon.

If you get stopped by the cops while carrying a knife, always tell them about it. Cops do not like surprises.

100 usless bro, not at all, maybe if your 14 and have no reason to have one. In the last 2 days alone I've used my knife to help with landscaping, cut open root balls and buckets that plants have been stored in, at work yesterday i was able to open a load of new spas that came in, the amount of times i've even used my swiss army knife to do things like tighten binding screws and cut things like wax and p-tex is endless, and hey they even can trim paper off blunts so your not taking in so much harsh paper.

knifes aren't just for protection and to stab people with man, i use a knife a few times a week and have never stabbed someone ha

There is a difference between someone like you and me and others that carry a knife to cut open boxes and to use for work and those idiot wannabe hoodrats that think it makes them "street" to carry one and are more likely to kill THEMSELVES with it in a fight than actually do damage to the person they are fighting.

The only people that stand a chance in knife fights are military personnel because the Special Forces guys/Marines are taught how to use them in a fight.

If you don't know how to use a knife as self defense, I would suggest not getting one. But, if you pull a knife at a potential fight and you don't know how to use it, it doesn't do anything but surprise them. Which is basically all you would need, pull out your knife and the moment they pause because you have a knife, turn, hold it with the back of the blade against your wrist, and sprint like hell. It's the safest option.

What the hell kind of post is this. First check the laws. Regular pocket knives are completely legal. Obviously you can't bring them to school. I've had them ever since I was a boy scout. I have a few and some multi tools in my car for emergencies.

You probably won't be able to do to much with it honestly. By the time you unfold that thing you're fucked. Get a switchblade if you want protection. or carry your car key between your knuckles when you're walking

I got into the habit of carrying a knife back when I worked construction and needed to for work. I don't carry one anymore, but I always have one in my car just in case.
Just for the record, IDK about your state, but in California I'm pretty sure its illegal to carry a knife in your pocket because it is considered "concealed". For it to be legal you have to have it clipped to your pocket so its visible. You can however have it clipped inside your pocket, so really only the clip is visible, and thats ok.
I would only use mine to protect a chick or something though, I'd rather take an ass beating than risk getting stabbed/shot any day. Getting stabbed sucks. You can't feel it for a while, but once the adrenaline wears off, it fucking canes.

ive been carrying a sheffield lockblade for about a year. i got it at pepboys for like 10 bucks and it comes in handy all the time at work and not at work. i work maintenace so i carry this bad boy and a swissarmy multi tool all the time. i got arrested when i had my knife and the cop didnt even say anything about and even gave it back to me while he was searching me. ive always carried it incase i get into a sketchy situation too and so far never had to use it.
if the knife your gonna buy is more of a tool sorta knife then you wont have any trouble, but if its shit that can fuck people up dont do it
