Hey NS if anyone pays attention to rally or knows who Travis Pastrana or Ken Block (Gymhana man) are do you know what exhausts they are running? I have an 09 wrx and want to make it as close to a rally car as possible. Idk what exhaust they got on it if its just a straight pipe with a cat conveter or a turbo back system. Thanks for you help guys
 
lol @ travis pastrana and ken block. ken block was cooler before his name was all over shirts at pac sun.
 
Anything on either of their custom made $200k cars will be very pricey. Most rally cars are going to have a huge custom made pipe for the best flow possible. Those cars are nothing like the real cars they are modeled after. They have a foot of suspension travel, and custom everything.
 
Okay...so first of Block doesn't drive a WRX anymore, he now drives the Ford Fiesta. As a regular consumer, there are not many parts for the Fiesta. Block has the money and time to custom make everything for his car (turbo, intercooler, exhaust, springs, etc.) Travis Pastrana does the same thing with his WRX. All their stuff is custom made for them because they have the ca$h.
So, in summary, unless your a millionaire, your car won't even touch Ken's or Travis'. If I were you I would go with a COBB exhaust system with a Megan Racing down pipe and high flow performance cats...

ken block drives a gay fuckin fiesta

who goes from a wrx to a fiesta, what a horrible career decision
 
Wow...ummmmmmm...you have no idea what your talking about. Blocks fiesta will beat anyones WRX anyday of the week. Yes the ford fiesta is a very gay car IF you don't have millions of dollars for research and development. The fiesta is putting out just shy of 500 HP out of the 2.0L engine at 8k RPM...while travis' WRX is only putting out 305 HP from a 2.5 L engine. Blocks fiesta will destroy anyones.
 
sorry its 450...i was looking at the travis pastrana version of the stock sti...i guess they're selling it to the consumer now...still...that Fiesta is lighter and faster no doubt.
 
good options although i think going to a pipe/weld shop that can mandrel bend some pipes would be cheapest in the end. all you need is a template design, your old exhaust or map out the measurements of the exhaust tunnel under the car and have them fabricate it up. i think it will sound 1 million times better than exhaust from those shops and i'd bet cheaper as well.

and since the op probably lives in a ski climate you have to get stainless. sometimes exhaust are made out of aluminized steel which rust quicker than stainless variety.
 
My buddy has an 02 WRX with a new engine, COBB Turbo, Stage 2 clutch, Megan down pipe to COBB exhaust and it sounds better than alot of rally cars...i wouldnt get anything else for a subie.
 
except its not a fiesta and its not a wrx. its a purpose build 200,000+ 100% rally car that slightly resembles a street car. but i gotta say, fiestas are sick. i drove one as a rental and it was fun as hell. they need to make a fast awd version.
 
go get some 3" pipe and weld yourself a straight pipe exhaust, i did it for my wagon, kept it on there for a month and then it got old real quick.

have you ever owned a car with the exhaust that loud? it gets annoying very very quick.
 
seriously.

andddd 99% of people that like cars, arent impressed with your subaru.

my trucks pretty loud, but i actually have mufflers and stuff. big cam, high compression carbed v8 is never quiet, but i would never straight pipe the thing.
 
yup, esp if your car is basically stock and still slow with an obnoxiously loud exhaust. when i did that to my suby i had alot done to it pushing around 400whp. then i decided to just go back to a stock sti exhaust with an electric cutout, now that is a badass mod.
 
calculate your mean flow velocity, determine pipe size, if hopped up, sonic wave scavenging, build as few bends as possible and add a market tunable muffler and tips. cross scavenging and back pressure is your freind.
 
I'll ask my buddy what exhaust he has...he's using the same engine Ken Block was running.

PS I'm running the 3" COBB exhaust on my '06 sti...easy install, good flow, and is guaranteed to wake up your neighbors at 4 a.m.

Would definetly recommend it.
 
Okay.. so second off Pastrana doesn't drive a WRX anymore either, seeing as how he left Subaru.

If you payed attention to rally you would know that they're both pretty awful. Block can barely keep up in WRC, or he crashes.

and block switched to ford because Subaru isn't in the WRC anymore.

if you want to make your car more like a rally car, get brakes, suspension and tires first, putting a big exhaust on your car is only going to make you look like a tool.
 
yup. skid plates too if you are actually going to rally it. if not then just get stickers and throw a 5pt harness over your seat. dont forget the quick disconnect steering wheel and massive mudflaps.
 
I'd be willing to place a good amount of money on Block switching from the Fiesta to the 2012 Focus.
From what I've heard, its supposed to be a dope car.
 
Sedan or Hatch?

If your just looking for sound, my suggestion is just get a cat back exhaust.

Want it really loud? Turboxs is loud as hell and has a better reputation than Tsudo.

In my opinion Cobb makes the best sounding exhaust for subaru, but thats my opinion.

dude you know that ken block has $150,000 car. good luck trying to replicate anything close to that. no hate. just saying.

also, cats are for bitches. my exhaust setup right now is; full length headers, into flowmaster 44s, 4" tailpipe.

its definetly not auto and its pushing 14lbs so its quick not a race car but it a fun car people get really worked up in these threads

 
i just want a nice throaty sound to it and maybe a couple extra hp i know exhaust wont make the car fly and by anymeans im not trying to replicate kens or travises cars i was simply asking for exhaust. the car needs some engine mods but its honestly embarassing driving around in something that sounds like a hybrid i cant hear ANY exhaust noise at all.
 
go with maddad, i know its a lame name but ive heard alot of different subaru exhausts and that system sounds amazing. 90% of the rest just sound obnoxious and ricey.
 
guirk you sound like an idiot. An exhaust won't make your car a "rally" car, just buy a 3 in borla or cobb
