Car insurance question

i'm looking to get a car and it's gonna be something pretty inexpensive. like maybe around $2000. now do i have to get the car itself insured, or can i just insure myself as a driver? so what i mean is, if i cause an accident and both cars are wrecked, my car won't be covered cause it's not worth much anyways, but since i'm insured as a driver, my insurance would cover the damages of the other driver. can iget insured this way or does that not exist?

i think you just need liability coverage. nothing on your car would be covered......but the coverage would cover the other persons car if it is your fault.

it's not going to cost you shit to insure your piece of shit car, what it's really for is when you back into someone's Beamer or if someone gets hurt. If you even could do that the difference would be negligible

yeah you can get just liability. thats all i have on my car because its not worth it, especially with the deductible.
