so i have 2 10 inch subs that run at 750 watts combined and an amp in the back of my car. they arent too loud but they get the job done, considering my car is tiny.
i want to take them out and stick them in my dorm room for the winter since i will only be driving to and from the mountain and not a lot of long trips back to home. what would i need to do this?

I forget all the details but I know that you need to run them off of a car battery to do this idea. I thought about it myself (wanted a Kicker L7 for a house sub) but decided it was to much work and that we'll just have to get a normal sub made for indoor applications.

I'd google it, I'm sure there is a how-to out there somewhere

You can use the subs but you need a home amplifier. To switch 12vdc to 120vac you would need an expensive adapter. It would cost less to get a home amplifier. Either way, it won't be free.

oh, i forgot to mention that my brother may have an extra 700ish watt amp lying around the house (its one you would use as a dj)

First you would need a transformer to step down the 120Vrms, and then use a filter bridge rectifier to rectify the voltage and a voltage regulator to get a constant 12V DC signal. That would feed into your amp. You might also need a low pass filter for the sub itself, depending on how you have it set up in your car.

But seriously, i don't know.
