Cap vs sandwich

i've been thinking about this a while and excuse me if it's a repost

does most of ns have skis that are sandwich construction?

or are skis with sandwich construction better?

i have nordica double 6s which is cap and the topsheet is getting destroyed after maybe 8 days out including backyard (superficial i know) and i feel like they're kinda soft. it kinda worries me that i'll snap them doing tip stands and hard nose/tailpresses because they seem soft

thoughts?

i ride a sandwich ski, the line chronic, and so far its holding up great. Cap construction is less durable than a sandwich construction, but dont worry about snapping your skis, topsheet damage is only cosmetic, as long as its not all the way into the core of the ski.

They're different. One isn't necessarily better than the other generally speaking.

Sandwich skis are:

-Stiffer

-Edge damage is repairable

-Poppier

-More tortionally rigid

-Sturdier

-More damp feeling

Cap skis are:

-Generally softer

-Done after an edge blow out

-less expensive

-Snappier feeling

-Easier to roll over onto an edge

There are many other differences, those are just several key points. Again, one isn't better than the other. They're just different. You have to decide what you want to sacrifice/gain when purchasing a ski.

what do you mean by damp?

i'll probably be getting sandwiched skis for my next set since they're repairable and more durable
