Canyons/Deer Valley

I'm going to be skiing Caynons around the 16-20. I'm from the east coast (Pennsylvania) so i've never skied Utah before. Where is can I find the best stashes for challenging terrain? I know locals pride themselves on not dishing out the best spots and resent tourists, im just lookin for assistance. Im a good skier, but know my limit. It's just my friend and I and we have no serious avalanche backcountry training so i think that is out, but is there any lift accessed or patrollled "backcountry" terrain? I really want to find some smaller cliffs (5-20ish feet) nothing gnarly because i never really ski anything real. but def. challening stuff. thanks guys

come to snowbird/alta and the challenging terrain is right there for you to see... and def down to show you fellas around.... but i heard 99-90 at the canyons is pretty sick, but i dont know man

but like said, head up little cottonwood canyon and im def down to help ya out.

Well I live in SLC and the parleys area is really great for just parks. PC has a sick park, the canyons is fun, and deer valley is fun to learn and mess around. If you want good terrain The canyons isnt all that great. But try empire canyon at deer valley and jupiter at PC.

^ you are fuckin retarded. Empire? get fuckin real. deer valley is a shit box. how can you honestly say that empire is sicker that square top, or dutches or great bowls o fire. your nuts fool.

If you end up in deer valley, you will get hit by for high pressure condo salesmen on every lift. In fact you dont sit on chair lifts, you sit on salesman lifts. On their laps.

^Then I will come and punch you in the groin for blowing your trip to UT on Deer Valley. Seriously, the cottonwood cayons are the best. PC if you are close to it is aight.

stay out of anything at the canyons that you have to access through a backcountry gate i.e. dutches, square top, etc. That shit slides all the time, is uncontrolled and you will DIE!!!

But coming from penn. I think anything in bounds at any of the resorts listed will do just fine for you. It will be plenty challenging and if you want a real challenge just go over to any resort in the cottonwoods and ski past those orange signs that say "cliff area"

Thanks, like I said I wish I could ski the Bird, and cottonwood, and all that shit, but I don't decide where we ski I'm going with someone elses family. it's all up to them. since i know im skiin at the canyons/deer valley. im out to find the best stuff.

Ya 99 90 at the canyons has some pretty good terrian. But i would definatly get that family to take you guys to snowbird/alta.

canyons has some cool stuff, pc has best park, snowbird/alta has best cliffs/big mountain style. 99-90 at canyons is prolly where you'd like to go.
