Can't ski with headphones in?

A few days ago at my local hill (Coffee Mill), I was told by a lifty that I couldn't have headphones in on the hill. I guess I could see why they'd have the rule, but I know that a lot of people ski while listening to music. Is this a common rule or is it just Coffee Mill?

The obvious response is "Huh?? Can't hear you!!!"

But seriously I've never heard (haha) of that. What about wired helmets/hats? I'd ask to see the specific policy. Chances are they don't have one and it's just some arbitrary ball-busting.

i just dont feel as cool if I'm not listening to some AOTP while skiing...

I mean there's many ways around them catching you with headphones on thankfully

Thats really interesting. I haven't heard of this before but I assume it has something to do with not being able to hear people around you, therefore increasing risk of accidents? Personally, I only ever ride with one in because of that very reason. So if you do that and keep them under your mask I think you'd be fine

that just sounds like the lifty is trying to be a hero by telling people what to do. i would've kept going until someone with more authority like ski patrol or customer service told me i couldn't have headphones.

Lmao at hyland a lot of the patrollers listen to music with audio helmets or earbuds while on the job I don't see where the problem is
