Canon vixia hf20?

I was look at this camera recently and i was wondering if anyone has some input on it. Earlier I was looking at the hv30 but i dont have firewire on my computer so that wont work and then i was looking at a different one which i made a thread on a while ago but i decided that wasnt the best choice. I've been looking at some test videos with them and it looks pretty good and it has 30p(for sports?) shooting so i think thats a plus. So if anyone has any input/experience for me that would be great! (im going to be only filming skiing so i want a camera with not a lot of ghosting)
 
Sean, if you don't have firewire on your computer you're fucked. USB is incredibly slow, isn't supported by any decent editing programs. I tried for so long to get a decent edit into my computer through USB and failed so hardcore.

Tell mom you'll need a computer for college and you want a couple years to get acquainted with it.

chances are you can throw a firewire port in for around 30 bucks. all by yourself. i did it when i was in grade 8 and didnt know shit all about computers.

it goes into a pci port or something along those lines, open up your computer and look for some long narrow slots that look like if something was in them you could take a panel off to have the port stick out the back. im pretty sure there white.

i just asked the guy about it at radioshack and he talked me through it. it wasnt hard.
 
if your going to get a flash based camera then i would go for the canon hf 100. basically the same as the hf 20 but it records to sd cards instead of internal memory and is cheaper.
