Canon T3i

So I am saving up for a Canon T3i DSLR camera and its accessories. What sort of gear do use with your T3i's or what gear would you recommend? I have very little experience with DSLR's and I would be willing to spend around 1,000 dollars. (Things such as lenses, stabilization, glide cams, rigs) Thanks!

What are you going to use the T3i for?

Regardless: SD memory card (class 10 minimum) and an extra battery are always welcome.

For stabilization, get a glidecam, or a flycam 3000. Both good options for keeping those shots dreamy smooth.

A tripod is also a must have, one with a fluid head and hefty legs is prefered.

Are you planning to do anything ohter than video? Photos? Are you buying just the body or the body plus the kit lens? will you be bringing it to the mountain?

I think the best order of "buying things" is as follows:

1. T3i Body Only

2. Tamron 17-50 Non VC

3. Tripod - 055XPROB or 190XPROB will be good starter legs, I can't think of what would be a good head since they discontinued the 701HDVs

4. Tokina 11-16

5. Backpack

6. Rode VideoMic

7. Glidecam HD-2000

8. Canon 70-200

The Glidecam could probably fit in there earlier, but also keep in mind that you could DIY something. I used this rig for a year before getting a Glidecam. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mA-t8SaJ3VU

Only buy the body, Kit lens are shit! Also glide cam HD1000, it fits the weigh perfect (I shoot on a 60D with a glide HD100)

For the glide buy a wide angle lens, your preference and price range.

Also buy a large lens Canon 200m F4l lens non IS run about 500 and are great when filming on a tripod.

SD card 10 power (16GB is prime for a day of filming) and an extra battery for sure.

But really to start just don't buy a kit lens.

For the few bucks you pay extra for for the kit lens, you might as well get it, hell, at B&H the body only version of the t3i is more expensive then the one with kit lens.

The kit lens is also not as horrible as you make it seem, yes it's made from Kinder egg plastics but it's optically decent, only flare can be a real issue.
