Hey guysSo my uncle just gave me his Canon T1i, he just got the 7D, he gave me the factory lens plus a Tamaron 70-300mm lens, I'm starting a photography course tomorrow and this is my first dslr. Basically I'm just wondering what accessories you guys would recommend. computer programs, lenses etc.

Budget - Under $1000
Experience - just with a p&s, this is my first dslr, i'm taking a photography course also, I have experience with SLR's though.
Gear - Tamaron 70-300mm lens, factory lens, tripod
Use - basically everything: skiing, movies, portrait, etc. for now
Computer - I have a macbook pro and a 1TB external hard-drive. Nothing else right now

composition and lighting etc. shouldn't be much different from an slr though right? That's what i'm doing, I've only been shooting manual since i got it

you said use, movies... thats not gonna happen with a t1i. 24fps isnt gonna cut it by a long shot for filming.

but as said, learn your camera forwards and backwards. all the settings etc.

also work on your lighting, exposure, and composition.

id say the first thing to buy would be a replacement for the kit lens, something with better glass. take a look at the tamron 17-50 with or without the VC.

also you might want a second hd, so that you can have duplicates of all your photos because all hard drives fail sooner or later.
